Preston losing at home to Lincoln could be terminal for Heckingbottom.
And how long before Burnley ask Parker to come back?
Came here to post this on both teams. Heckingbottom always comes across as a decent bloke but I think his days are numbered there.

Can't see Heckingbottom lasting the other side of the international break.

A lot of the teams down there now will stay there all season

Bolton, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Lincoln, Preston, Derby and Cardiff I expect all to be in the bottom half of the table
That s a pretty lazy “analysis”. Can’t have a bet on all of them but I’ll have a bet with you for upbeats or whatever that Lincoln dont get relegated (this season)?

When Burnley got promoted two seasons ago, they conceded 16 goals in 46 games.

So far this season they have conceded 16 goals in 7 games.

It feels like Preston have been in the Championship for absolutely ages and one of those teams that just float around mid table. Never quite good enough to challenge for promotion but never quite poor enough to be worried about relegation.

Nothing wrong with that of course but you just feel if they do get rid of Heckingbottom they will still be floating around mid table at the end of the season.

And if they keep him there'll probably still be floating around mid table at the end of the season.

Maybe. I think there’s a bit more going on at the club that’s affected this season though.

I just look at a lot of Wrexham's transfer business bar Imray and go "why". Think Chris Wilder was onto something a couple of weeks back when he said they were throwing bids in for anyone. £9m on Patterson,£9m on Nathan Broadhead last summer , £6.5m on O'Hare. No striker signed this summer so they're still relying on Smith and Moore.

The only player they've got they might sell for a big fee is Callum Doyle but they paid £8m for him in the first place. All seems incredibly short term fixes.
They've only ever done short term signings because in the lower divisions you can spend your way up relatively easy. Much harder at this level
Which is why I thought they'd learn to stop signing 28-32+ year old championship players for stupid fees and actually try and build something for the long term. Just feels like a strategy that's doomed for failure when you aren't the big fish in a small pond financially anymore and can't just pay silly wages.

Do they have the long term on their side?  Their entire existence is based on Hollywood/Netflix.  If they stagnate that gets bored and moves away.  Then with huge bills to pay, the 2 actors will disappear and they will go bust.
It feels genuinely a case of Premier League or bust to me.
Was wondering this. Most of their US fanbase have only ever known them winning and going up through the leagues. A poor/average season and those 'fans' will soon get bored.

Can't honestly see Preston being a particularly appealing prospect to more ambitious managers, it will be interesting to see who they get in.

This kind of complacent ennui is how relegations happen

They lost 4 of their top 5 goal scorers this summer, 2 of their 3 players with the most assists, their captain and they also had their equivalent of Connor Gallagher on loan for half a season last year.

To top it all off Harry Clarke was considered a marquee signing for them they’re going to be in trouble

From what I’ve seen so far I’m quite confident we will finish above Preston, Bolton, Cardiff, Lincoln, Pompey and Blackburn at least. Hopefully there will be plenty more

As long as we finish above 3 teams I really don’t mind who they are not going to let our good start influence our goals coming into the season

Didn’t we offer a contract and he didn’t want to play for us?

You just know he scores the winning goal against us when we play Millwall.

He's probably scoring because Millwall have created chances for him.
How many would we have made for him so far this season?

Cozier-Duberry would have looked very good in a Charlton shirt. He's probably a bit too good for us. I was also hoping we'd take a look at Seb Berhalter. Son of the former USMNT coach. Had a decent cameo role at the World Cup. I forget how much he went for in the end but I get why we wouldn't have wanted to spend the 2-3m or whatever it was on him. Decent player, though more busy than technical.

That's nothing. They had 97% possession when we won up there last year!
