    If this was a league match played well into a season,  I'd say Gills were a top third team and we were bottom third.

    Lulling them into a false sense of security.  Looks like we are clueless, can only pass backwards, struggle defensively and can’t create chances, then give them a couple of goals start to soften them up but patience,they are ripe for the plucking - it’s all about to change and they will be shell shocked.

    its a confident and masterful strategy.  A cunning plan…..

    It’s the only system this squad can play.  It protects the defenders and it ensures the midfielders’ lack of ability is masked .  It’s the smart thing to do - I don’t blame Jones for that, as much as I can’t stand him 
    It might be the only system the squad can play but it's not the system we've recruited for and that's the rub. 
    We’ve been playing that system for 2.5 years

    They are playing in a structure that hasn’t changed for years while we’re trying to figure out a new one. Obviously our performance is still lacking but it’s important context

    You’re sat there saying these friendlies don’t matter. They clearly do, this is our 4th and there is no indication whatsoever that this team is ready to compete. But sure it’s a pre season so just ignore it
