    He’s not a hold up player or number nine, despite his build. He needs to be running onto balls or getting crosses infront of him.

    All pre season games should be behind close doors…. Cause today fans are must win at all costs and in a world of failure or success they are not use to the old Testimonial type games and that how these were played  and the lack of importance they just don’t get ..

    So everyone can play shit, show no ambition to prove you should be in the team and still expect to be picked? Nobody on here has mentioned the result it was the type of performance which looked like the majority couldn’t give a fuck, leading to proving what most of us think we need and in turn discussing it.

    Obviously psf should be about getting some fitness and trying new styles / players and I suppose our have met that purpose but has anyone noticed Wrexham played Man Utd last week and Leeds this week I suggest a slightly different approach lol

    Totally agree - the window has been extremely disappointing and a lot needs to happen in the next 2/3 weeks - fleming talking about grant and macnamara missing half a pre season and the consequences - doesn't strike me as good planning / ideal window - sick of having half arsed owners - apparently we should be grateful they aren't as bad as the last lot etc. I get that but doesn't mean i'm happy when other clubs have owners who invest significantly more. Weren't impressed last year when it was said they get more excited about the women's team. THey need gto startr getting excited about the mens team and start opening their wallets. We've brought in the punts and the cover, lets now have some much needed and much talked about quality - all down to the owners stumping up now.

    I really enjoy watching the academy teams when often it isn’t all about winning. But they have a style of play and attempt to pass to each other / work to be a team. Is that too much to hope for in a PSF?

    After that performance I don't think he understands the word running. He was wandering about looking totally disinterested.

    Carl had the same situation,Lennie brought him in at a very young age,he was basically a foil for whoever played alongside him,but never a prolific goal scorer.Miles does tend to drift out to the right,but surely we need him in the middle to either win the ball for his mates or even score,we dont need 6ft 5in wingers.

    They may but I’d say it won’t be for too long if they do. DM and Grant haven’t had a full pre-season according to Saturday’s interview. Don’t know about Alli.

    They may but I’d say it won’t be for too long if they do. DM and Grant haven’t had a full pre-season according to Saturday’s interview. Don’t know about Alli. 
    Alli has been training but no game time (I think). That kind of works though as we might start to see some players playing 75 minutes, leaving 15 for the new signings.

    I also wouldn't be surprised if we have a behind closed doors match lined up at some point around the Cheltenham game

    By all accounts the squad would have had a high intensity morning training session.  Perhaps the least impressive vs AFCW were the hardest triers.

    Maybe a better idea is to have a second “ pre season” during the September International break for all the late joiners who did not have one and the returning from injury group that missed out. Add in some youngsters to make up the numbers.
    Surely it would help players avoid injuries by being fitter and improve performance.

    I would like to think all 3 of the most recent signings get some game time tomorrow evening. If not then what's the point. We already have 4 or 5 injured players who don't look like starting the season......but we keep on signing players that arent fit.

    I say every season (and get laughed at). Got to get players in for pre-season & certainly here for the intensive week away. 

    You get laughed at because you make it sound as though you're the only one who's thought of it, and that it should be a given that it happens. 

    It's obvious that getting all players in before the pre-season camp is the ideal scenario.

    The reality, though, is that the transfer market rarely works like that. Every club would love to have their business done early, but negotiations, player decisions, and selling clubs' demands often make it impossible. 
    Grant and McNamara were free agents......and probably were from about the 2nd week of May.  If we wanted them I'm sure they could have been had much earlier than last week. Which convinces me that both weren't on our "wishlist". 
    The trouble is you live in football fantasy land, where you think Charlton ring a player up and he pops down and signs for us with little delay.  
    Many fans (though not enough) understand the complexities, the negotiations, the personal and family issues and the fact that many players will wait towards the end of the window before making up their mind.
    Yeah, like Ben Reeves did. I will never forget that saga and his (non) performances that season showed.

    My negotiations to a player would be.....

    Sign by the date pre-season starts = £x pa
    Sign by the time players get back from training camp = £×-10% pa
    Sign 2 weeks after this = £x-20%pa


    Unless you are overpaying them with the first offer you wouldn’t sign anyone 

    If the club wanted to do all their business before pre-season starts they’d either need to overpay for every player or sign players that aren’t good enough so jump at the chance to play for us. 

    If you want to sign good players, and not overpay for them, you have to be patient
