John Kear RIP
Anyone who is interested in Rugby League will know the name John Kear.
He was co commentator with Jonathan Davies at the Challenge Cup final at Wembley this weekend and on his way back home up north he suddenly passed away, he was 71.
He was a delightful man. Always had a smile on his face and loved the sport. I was lucky enough to see him walk out with his Hull FC side at Cardiff against Leeds when the challenge cup was played there during the Wembley renovation. We were wearing our London Broncos shirts and sat in amongst the Huff FC support and it was a brilliant occasion watching them beat Leeds and lift the trophy.
He had an iconic voice which was perfect for comms and listening to his insightful comments on the game was a joy.
I’m devastated by his sudden death and I can only imagine how his family and friends feel.
Rest in eternal peace John. Thank you for all the entertainment, you will be missed.

Sad news. A worthy successor to Ray French as a commentator and had a playing and coaching background too.
