RIP. The voice of Charlton on LBC radio when growing up as kid in the early 80's17

RIP Scoop
The press room will never be the same.6 -
Rest in Peace, Peter. Still volunteering for the club right till the end of last season. Legendary.11

Always remember his breathless and slighty angry post match report from Brisbane Road in 1978 when we scraped a 0-0 draw to avoid relegation.Angry because we had let players like Mike Flanagan and Colin Powell go and play for the New England bloody Tea Men when they should have been at the Valley.Kent CC was, I believe, his other great passion.11

Absolute legend of the club
RIP Scoop1 -
Sad news, bless him he often used to get us a couple of press tickets for away games when we used to travel the length of the country with Kevin Nolan.
Another of the cornerstones of the club.
RIP Peter.4 -
Name synonymous with my supporting Charlton. RIP5

What a shocker .. He’s been around the club forever. Always remember as a kid tuning into LBC to get the football scores on a Saturday afternoon when we were away from home. Peter was our roving reporter and you could hear his dulcet tones down the other end of a crackly phone line. If we were winning, he had excitement in his voice. But more often than not it was the sound of disappointment. RIP Scoop. A true Charlton legend. Signing off .. ‘This is Peter Burrows, for IRN sport at the Valley’12

Club legend.
He was up until recently supervising team sheet production and distribution at U21 and U18 games.
More or less wrote the sports pages of the old Kentish Independent on his own, and a legend of live match reporting back in the day on the wireless.
A true Charltonian, I found him easy to get along with, good for minor gossip about up and coming players.I am sure there are many tales to be told about ‘scoop’.The place will not seem the same without Peter, rest in peace mate.13 -
Peter on LBC doing live updates from the away games , before social media even teletext .. it was the only way you could find out the score .. his favourite phrase .. “ as I am talking there been a goal “ … then a short pause as he worked out who it was. Got to know Peter over the years especially when Charlton reserves played at Welling ..use to know everything going on at the club … plus at Oldham away on an awful
Tuesday night he got the whole coach of supports free tickets ….. sad day RIP Peter8 -

He was always the person i would head for at u21 games at Sparrows Lane, as he was the person handing out team sheets.
Also i think he was the first person to report the shooting of Frank Warren, outside the Broadway Theatre Barking, when he was working for LBC Radio.

A reassuring, friendly face I nodded to regularly when we saw one another at the Valley over the years since the 50s. Very sad to hear of his passing. Never forgotten.

Always did a great job reporting the club & good reads in the Kent paper.
Sad news, RIP Peter.0 -
I sit behind the press box in the west stand and Peter would walk along the line of the press with the attendance figures, he looked no different to when we used to bump into him in the seventies. RIP Peter, Charlton are poorer with your loss.5

Think it would be respectful to spell his name correctly in the thread title, @AFKABartram, although there is a certain irony!
Sad news and very sudden. We have been sharing gossip for nearly four decades.1 -
