QETTLE TAP

Hi

Can anyone recommend someone who services and repairs Qettle boiling water taps in the Blackfen/Bexley area.
Our Qettle tap has been switched off and unused for around 18 months. Before that, we unfortunately let limescale build up and there was a leak somewhere, so it will likely need a full service, descaling, and possibly some repairs or maintenance to get it working properly again.
If anyone can recommend a reliable local engineer or company, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I'd like to second that good luck wish. It must be a nightmare not having working taps in the quitchen.

    Hi

I have a Qettle. It replaced an earlier Franke version which died. (The boiler unit looks exactly the same BTW)

In our hardwater area, they really need an annual descale with Kilrock. (Cheaper from Amazon than from Qettle.)  And for the filter cartridge to be replaced every 6 months. Possibly more frequently if your local friendly water company have been doing repairs in your vicinity and let loads of crap filled water back into the system - this really screws the filters.

Anyway, I'm not sure the boiler units themselves are servicable but they are not expensive.

The whole kit is about £550 pounds and a replacement boiler unit (4 litre?) around £300.
The boiler unit is a very easy replace which you can do yourself with the instructions provided plus the youtube "how to" videos.

It is possible that a new unit would be cheaper than an engineer's time to repair the existing one.

It is possible that your leak is from the tundish assembly.  This is the part of the system that vents excess steam/pressure. The outlet can get blocked and it will overflow, causing what looks like a leak but isn't really.  The whole tundish kit is £30.

Finally the system does not like too high a pressure from your water mains. If it is on the high side say 10 bar, you need to get a Pressure Limiting Valve fitted to the mains inlet to reduce the water pressure to about 5 bar.

I hope that helps. By the way, the Qettle people are good at dealing with telephone queries and might be able to put you in touch with an accredited installer. https://www.qettle.com/
