    Known as Sir Kev by the faithful at Headingley, the accolade has now been recognised by the King for his outstanding contribution to the MND community as it continues striving to find a cure.

    At last a Knighthood for a deserving man.

    Kevin Sinfield's devotion to Rob Burrow's when he was fighting MND and in raising 11 million so far for the cruellest of disease is amazing.

    A Knight's title for Rugby, Friendship and his sublime charity endeavours for MND.

     An honours that nobody can deny is deserved, he could have been awarded it for half of what he has done in tribute to his best friend.

    It is just a shame that Rob passed before this and wasn't similarly honoured, without their friendship Kev wouldn't transcend the sport of rugby league.  Unless something else had inspired him so much.

    I can't think of a more worthy recipient than Kevin Sinfield.  He has done so much to raise the awareness of MND and raise funds to find a cure for such a cruel disease. Congratulations Sir Kevin.

    A genuinely deserved honour , makes a nice change from the bonus honours for just doing your job (or failing at it)that get handed out to each other by our political classes.

    He's who made me fall in love with rugby league. 

    Having said that, probably one of the few sportsman who have done more off the pitch (in my opinion) than on it.

    The most deserving knighthood for a long time. My dad, a lifelong addick, was taken by MND and what Sir KS has done for his friend and the whole MND community is quite incredible. Inspired me to run the Rob Burrow marathon to help raise what I could and I am simply in awe of the man. One of the greatest role models this country has ever produced.
