    Thanks for drawing my attention to this as I’ll admit that despite being rather a Dexy’s fan I was unaware that Geno was a reference to a real person. And I absolutely love that song thanks to @golfaddick

    The Space Cowboy and Gangster of Love mentioned in Steve Miller's The Joker, are both tongue in cheek  references to Miller in the past. Maurice refers back to an earlier song of his which may also have a semi-autobiographical tone.
