  • You wouldn't have thought we've just reached the semi-finals of the world cup judging by some of these overly-critical comments. Lighten up and enjoy it!

So far, we've had one good performance followed by one mediocre performance so we're due a stormer against Argentina (followed by a stinker in the final  :D)
I think we are due a proper performance against the Argies.
The worry is that then becomes our 'final' and we get tonked embarrassingly by the Frogs or Spanish in the final.
We have just had two totally sapping games against Mexico (altitude) and Norway (heat and humudity).
We should have just enough left in the tank for the beating of Argentina, but then nothing left against the French (probably) in the biggest match and footballing spectacle in 60 years.
Hope I'm wrong! And yes - I will try to enjoy it......

Whilst the game could have gone either way, Norway deservedly beat Brazil so not sure we could expect to play them off the park. Especially as they have top players. I thought the ITV questioner was a bit of a disgrace yesterday. Chasing a story at the expense of unity. I don't think it will have that effect though.
If you mean the grey haired bloke who can't afford a comb who seemed to relish telling the players that Tuchel didn't think the performance was good enough, I'd have to agree with you. He just seemed like he wanted to be the big I am, telling the players that the  manager wasn't happy.

That said I thought Tuchel was spot on and managed to deliver the truth with great humour. If he can get the same message across to the players like that, I'm sure it'll all be fine.  Got to say, I'm really warming to Tuchel.

Wednesday is going to be epic. I’ve been speaking to my 18 year old son about it because it’s actually a new thing for him.

Hes said he’s known bigger occasions. Euros finals.

    Nah.

This is it. A goliath of a game.

It’s them lot. The Argies. In a World Cup semi final. All the years of cheating. Of dodgy decisions. Fat boy and his hand of god. Simeone and his dirty games. Chanting about the Falklands in the dressing room.

None of this Three Lions bollocks. World in Motion going full blast in my living room now.

It doesn’t get any bigger than this.

This is why the World Cup is the greatest sporting occasion. Whatever happens Wednesday will be a night you remember for the rest of your life
    Las Malvinas.

Now let's see how the VAR influences the Argie's game.
Will infantile appoint 7 Argie officials?
Will England "fans" see this as OK because in their opinion they are the best?
You do talk so much shit @MrWalker

    Well said, MrOneLung.

They can call it Messi Mountain for all I care. The people living there, and our fellow British citizens, call it the Falklands. In the 2013 referendum, 99.8% agreed.

Same way they can call it the Hand of God. And we call it cheating. Wont ever agree on everything.

Glad I'm not the only person who thought Gabriel Clarke was a disgrace.
He deliberately tried to undermine our World Cup campaign by provoking Tuchel and then trying to provoke Bellingham.
He tried to instigate a wedge between the manager and the players.
Willing to wreck our World Cup morale through his arrogance.

I know Madueke is getting all the criticism but what's happened to Eze? He looks like a pale shadow of the player who was ripping us to shreds in the Championship 5 or 6 years ago.
More relevantly, at the Nigels Eze and Olise were both exciting, attacking players, and annoyingly good.

One went to Bayern and became a global superstar. The other went to Arsenal, and has lost his spark. Just as Grealish isn't the same player he was at Villa.

Our semi final is being played in the Air Conditioned Atlanta Stadium.
Could be a factor in our favour after the heat of Miami.
In our favour? Is 22 degrees too cold for the opposition?
Not exactly, but the Argies are more used to the heat.
And our boys won't be sweating their nuts off in 40 degrees.
Was hoping you wasn't that dense that you would need it explaining for you.
    Ha, ha.

I find it funny that you think that it really makes that much of a difference between two teams of professionals who are all conditioned to playing in the same European leagues.

Besides, I actually posted that this morning before watching the Argentina match with my family at lunchtime with all of us having intentionally avoided the result. For all I knew we could have been playing Switzerland.

But hey, ho, be rude to me. Sod you.

Without wanting to repeat any old jokes - if you are prepared to pay, there will be tickets available for both the semi-final and the final.

£3,999 was the price I got for the Semi, including flights, 3 nights accommodation and Cat 3 or above tickets. The same source will have final tickets available. All ATOL protected.

This rivalry goes all the way back to 1966 when Rattin got sent off for continually disputing decisions.Since, then,Beckham sending off,Maradona handball, and I am sure other instances which add to the drama.I recently read a book about the history of Argentine football, there has been corruption and all sorts of violence in their game since they virtually began playing, players beaten up,referees having to be locked in dressing rooms for protection, games abandoned, political interference (blatant corruption like 1978 when Peru threw the game to lose 6-0).But apart from all this, what beautiful footballers they have produced,Maradona (yes he was a shitbag),was a joy to watch,Messi, say no more, and one of my favourites,Ossie Ardilles who was just sublime.Wednesday will firstly be a game of football, but it may not be the best team who wins,it will be the team that is mentally strongest,we have to stand up to and ignore the play acting ,intimidation etc.that will come our way, keep Macallaster and his mates quiet in midfield and we will win.As a footnote,I visited Argentina some years ago, really loved the place, people in shops and bars always happy to talk football without any malice ,and surprisingly very knowledgable about the English game.(just dont mention the Falklands)

Need any further confirmation that the interviews of Tuchel and Bellingham were poor?
You’re in luck, because Piers Morgan has said Gabriel Clarke did a good job and asked the right questions.

Nothing wrong with the Tuchel interview. Everything wrong with the misrepresentation of his words when speaking to Bellingham a few minutes later.

Why would an English journalist try to create conflict in the England squad days before a World Cup semi-final?! Do something useful and tell Messi that Lionel Scaloni said he is half the player that Simon Church was.

Messi and Simon Church mentioned in the same sentence.
Never in a million years did i think I'd see that.

Good to see that Kane has spoken out about it, talking about the mentality that the media have to create division. - Sadly they'll no doubt act like a 5-year old with their little brother going: "Why are you hitting yourself" with endless articles asking if Kane is right to be saying what he's said.

When a squad is united, this sort of thing can help them and effectively be just noise.
