I’ve noticed loads of it going on this year at work, mostly young English.

    One example:

    “1 mojito please”.

I go and make it which maybe takes one minute.
I then charge the girl and then ask the person next to her what she’d like.

    “1 mojito please”….

I then realise they’re a big group all together and I asked them “please could you let me know what you’re all having so I can make them quicker for you”

    …………….

    ”9 mojitos please”

    😳

I don’t mind that so much, or more that I’m getting used to it.

Easier to stick 2 card machines infront of 9 people and go down the line rather than making 1 drink at a time and then charging, especially cocktails.

That said, had a group of nice lads probably about 19/20 that I educated after day 3 of their holiday to do rounds though… it was revolutionary to them!

In fairness, i do understand if you’re from that Covid generation and this is your first time going on a lads/girls holiday or going out for World Cup games that you might not “get it”.
...and then as you give them their Mojitos,"and 5 guinness please"
Oh, I solve that problem by just shooting them in the head.

Ok, as long as there's no blackcurrant in the Guinness. That's a complete no, no.

Guinness should just be Guinness - but I have to say that when at a rugby tournament at the Guinness Club in Dublin twenty odd years ago the barman suggested a shot of Tia Maria in the pint and it went down very well.

This has become one of my favourite threads to read, always fascinates me how and why people queue in pubs. I don't see it myself but if it wasn't for the fact I use an app if available i'd go straight to the bar regardless of a queue or not it's what the full bar is there for otherwise pubs would just have a serving hatch if operating only a single till or two. As others have said too if bar staff need guidance to who is next, punters will usually sort it out between themselves knowing who was there before them when at the bar.

One flanker to the long bar thing is when a bunch of people are sitting on stools at the bar along its whole length.
    Isn’t that a complication?

    Complication yes
    Showstopper no

    Very easily solvable that one

Thing that gets my goat is people seeing a bar like that in a restaurant, with stools all along the front, then trying to use it like a pub bar.

Have some decorum and sit the fuck down

So you're having a drink and your glass is nearly empty, there's one person behind the bar and one person being served by them then you notice someone else going up to the bar, you've just quaffed your last bit of drink. Do you go up and stand at the bar or give it a minute until the people there have been served?

Reason i'm curious is someone just had a massive moan about having to wait after doing just this.

We came across a new one, for us anyway, in the Belgian bar in Folkestone. A pint of lager with a measure of Picon in it. Quite delicious and we will be hunting up a bottle of Picon the next time we’re in a decent off-licence.

Never heard of Picon so looked it up.

'Picon tastes bittersweet, combining sweet candied orange peel with a strong, earthy root bitterness. It features distinct flavors of bitter orange zest, gentian root, quinine, and a touch of caramel.'

    Sounds interesting.

There was a little French bar in Endell Street near Covent garden when I worked there about 20 years ago called 'The Sans-Culottes', referred to, in my circle at least, as the No Pants.
Used to be able to get a great lunch in there for a fiver, consisting of a tarte flambé and a half of beer or biere picon or a small glass of ropey wine. The biere picon was indeed interesting as it comprised a shot of picon the glass then being filled 50/50 with lager (brewed on the premises and reasonably good) and aforementioned ropey white wine. I always kept it to one if I had hard sums to do in the afternoon. But it did become a regular haunt away from the office and was stunningly good value.

I'm not really a lager drinker apart from one or two decent continental things, but if you find yourself in possession of some flavourless eurobrew, a dash of Picon at least gives your drink a bit of flavour. I always found it quite marmaladey, there's some bitterness in it which works well.
