Have done this exactly once, at Highbury. Was directly in line with Henry's backheel. I did not have to worry about standing up to cheer that day0

Cobblers! Fairly local to us and usually sit in the larger stand about half way for the view mainly, must say some very unusual characters sit up there, makes for amusing people watching if the game is crap, getting worked up watching Cobblers must appeal to some I suppose.0

For this reason I always go in the home end at Northampton.jonseventyfive said:Cobblers! Done this back in the days at The Den when I went with an old Millwall mate and his friends. They all knew I was Charlton, never had a problem. Don't think we ever scored though !!2

Sat in the home end at St Mary's years ago for a Premier League game, must have been 2002. It was a criminally dull 0-0 so there was no risk of anyone getting caught out because presumably everyone was asleep.0

Sat in the West Stand at Chelsea.....stunk of weed. Was with my brother in law at the time.0
-
I wouldn't do it.
I don't like it when people do it at ours.4 -
Did so at the (Old) Den in 1985-6. An important game in our promotion run-in, where we got a 2-2 draw. Kept very quiet.1

Didnt you shower that day?HastingsRed said:Sat in the West Stand at Chelsea.....stunk of weed.2 -
Did at The Den in the 90s once. Without looking it up, think we lost two or three nil. No danger of me jumping up celebrating in a Millwall game sadly.Did it for Gillingham away when they beat us in the cup too. Not a good record.0

Don't see the point personally, if you can't cheer or get excited when we're on the attack or score. But then again, might not have to worry about that when we're lining up in a 550 formation this season.3
-
Done it all Millwall, West ham x3, Boro, Chelsea. Going to be tough at the Olympic Stadium, but seeing how Arsenal fans were treated there, should ensure my silence!0
-
Never seen the point myself. Either have a fake a celebration when Charlton inevitably concede or sit on your hands for 90mins.0

Apart from when we done it most away games in the 70sBaldybonce said:I wouldn't do it.

Chelsea away, sat in the Matthew Harding upper, when we beat them on pens in the League Cup. Darren Bent scored our goal in a 1-1 draw, against a very strong Chelsea side.
Sat at the back of their home end I was about as far from the away end bedlam as could be. Went with 2 work colleagues, they were essentially football tourists, both of whom left with the game still in the first half of extra time. They were far from the only ones not seeing the game out.
Changing of subject - the next morning, about 30 seconds after leaving my front door to go to work, Darren Bent walked past in shorts, tshirt and flip flops, clutching a bunch of the morning's newspapers. That was at North Greenwich when there were only a relativity small number of flats there, I think the club used one or two of them for players. As a neighbour I'd never seen him before, nor afterwards - just the morning after he'd scored in our shock win.2 -

But times were different then.0 -
Did it twice when away fans were banned.
Luton (brother worked with a Luton Town fan) and Chelsea (have cousins who are Chelsea fans).0 -
Makes me laugh the outrage on here when there are away fans in home areas at The Valley

My eldest daughter was at uni in Leicester and got 2 free tickets when Leicester played us in the prem. I chatted about Len Glover so we got away with it. We lost 3-1 so no danger of getting too excited.0

The segregation at Upton Park when we groundshared there was hopeless. I remember our final home game there, against Newcastle, as I was sitting in the Upper Tier of the main stand, and I'm sure there were more Newcastle fans there than Charlton ones.0

Try the upper west at the Valley, stinks of wee!!!!HastingsRed said:Sat in the West Stand at Chelsea.....stunk of weed. Was with my brother in law at the time.
Only joking I sit there.4 -
When I used to go away in the 80s and 90s, we always used to go in the home stands on the halfway line for a better perspective on the game. In those days, you could just buy on the day. Never had a problem and I always found it interesting to see how the home supporters saw their team.
Less common these days, unless going with a mate who supports the home side.I do recall going in the Cold Blow Lane End with my dad (who refused to acknowledge segregation) in 1972, replete with my Charlton scarf. Nobody batted an eyelid, although I learnt some new profanities from the abuse directed at Barry Endean who had (sadly) turned down a move to Millwall in favour of us.1 -
So did I !!Oxfordaddick said:Did so at the (Old) Den in 1985-6. An important game in our promotion run-in, where we got a 2-2 draw. Kept very quiet.0 -
Went with some spanner mates when we played at The Den, evening match, in the 80's, we went 2~0 up. I left around 10 minutes from the end knowing what was going to happen.LargeAddick said:Done this back in the days at The Den when I went with an old Millwall mate and his friends. They got their first as I was walking under the railway bridge by the CBL, and equalised before I'd got back to the Lord Clyde in Deptford (I lived in Dolphin Tower next door).0 -

I’ve done it twice at Stamford Bridge and both are an argument against it and the idea that you just control your emotions and blend in.The first time we beat them with a goal from Bartlett and even though I didn’t go nuts I did give myself away to those around me and got some glances, but no aggro. The second time was the last day of the season when they clinched the league and scored from an outrageous penalty decision. I lost the plot unfortunately and ultimately ended up getting attacked by some meathead. My fault, ultimately.0

Did it at Wembley play off v Orient. Sat next to relatives of Kray brothers. Kept stum!1

Did this once in the Cold Blow Lane end with my neighbour who was a Spanner. He forgot to tell me he had invited another Charlton fan who turned up with a red and white scarf on. I think it was the same game as MOG went to 2-2 draw when we were 2-0 up. I don't remember seeing the end of that game.LargeAddick said:Done this back in the days at The Den when I went with an old Millwall mate and his friends.
