Foxy's 2026 Summer Transfer Window Rumours Catch-Up Thread

I'm back, and I'm ready to suffer it all over again. No A-Levels to worry about this time, just the terrifying and exciting prospect of moving away for uni in September breathing down my neck (Charlton Life posters… they grow up so fast).

If you're new to this thread, I'll be collating all the rumours for this window in a chronological fashion for your viewing disdain. The first few pages will be redundant as they're stuff that happened months ago.. I am a bit late.

Right then, only 10,962 posts to sift through! See you in a few hours. UTA.

    Impressed.
Learning a language is probably the purest form of teaching and learning, with no short cuts unless maybe you live in the place where the language is spoken.
You have a double whammy because you will also have to learn Geordie😏

It's the only thing I'm both good at, and enjoy. Luckily I've been learning Spanish and German since I was in year 7. I'm still hoping to go for a third, but perhaps not a Romance or Germanic one this time. Russian might have been fun a long time ago. Maybe something like Arabic or Mandarin.

    Go for Mandarin.
Different, but not as hard as some people think, well the speaking and listening anyway, but even the script is mainly based on eight strokes as opposed to 26 letters.

Yup, worked up there for two years. Eight pints minimum was compulsory.  And that was for lunch....
went back to work and sometimes was locked into the banking counter for an hour as back-up teller. Usually had to have a piss in the waste paper basket. Happy days.
  • Had three long stints working in Newcastle in the 80´s and 90´s.

Absolutely love the city, the Big Market used to be the place back then along with a cracking nightclub on a boat moored on the Tyne!

    You will love it @Foxycafc

    I’m bilingually illiterate.

I can’t read and write in two languages.

So, doesn’t take much to take a thread off piste.

Soon it’ll be just like the rumours thread, and then we’ll need another update thread to be started just so that can be taken off piste.

On a night out, when I’m back, I’ve got about 80 more pages to sift through and then it’ll all be ready to post in the middle of the night! When you all wake up it should be complete 😂

Charlton Desperate to Bring James Bree Back on Free Transfer This Summer

Charlton Athletic are determined to try and bring James Bree back to the club this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The right-back impressed at The Valley during a loan stint earlier this season, before being recalled by Southampton in January.

Bree returned to form under Addicks' boss Nathan Jones after being frozen out by Will Still on the south coast.

But since being recalled to St Mary's, Bree has been a mainstay in the first XI under new boss Tonda Eckert.

The club, vying to return to the Premier League at the first attempt, are firmly in the play-off mix after a fine turnaround and are currently 13 games unbeaten in all competitions, with a chance of getting to Wembley in the FA Cup.

Helped by his early-season form at Charlton, Bree has been a revelation under Eckert since returning to the club and has netted three goals during their unbeaten run.

Bree is out of contract at the end of the season and it is understood there are plenty of Championship suitors for the 28-year-old.

Charlton are hopeful his time at the club earlier this term puts them at the front of the queue.

But there is a chance he extends his stay at the Saints, who are understood to be considering offering him a new deal at the end of the campaign.

Charlton had attempted to secure a permanent deal for Bree while he was still on loan late last year, but talks with Southampton stalled as the clubs couldn’t agree on a transfer fee.

    Entering Prime Years

Bree came through the ranks at Barnsley’s academy and was one in a long line of top-class defenders from the Oakwell conveyor belt, following in the footsteps of the likes of John Stones and Mason Holgate.

He moved to Aston Villa for what the Tykes called a “substantial fee” in 2017.

Since then he played in the Championship for Luton Town and helped Southampton win promotion via the play-offs in the 2023/24 campaign, making ten top-flight appearances last term as they were relegated.

    18:39 - @CH4RLTON - Charlton Life:

“So I’ve heard from two people now that are not particularly in the know but totally separately that we were one of the teams who had a bid rejected for Tyreese Shade in January and we going to be in running again for the highly rated winger/foward. I have to say he ticks all the boxes of what we are looking for and looks basically like a Tyreese Campbell clone but with more end product.”
