Utter bollox Fen. When they transfer, they are no longer "homegrown".
Which is exactly why they would be able to demand higher wages from the club they came through at. “Pay me more money because I don’t take up a squad space” is a pretty easy argument to make as is “Transfer fee is higher because we’ll need to use up a squad space to replace him”

    28 squad size
2 more in in a RW (other position not known)
5 more out Asiimwe, doc, Kanu, apter, Knibbs?

  • Pretty sure I read today, that Wrexham already have a squad of 33, and that Parky is looking to sign some more, that despite them being one of the biggest spenders again this summer. How can they manage to meet regulations?

They won’t. They’ll end up paying off players/letting them go cheaply. It’s what they’ve done for a few years

Likes of DKD,Dobbo,Cadamartri , Lee they'll be desperate to shift to L1 clubs. Probably a few canny deals to be done to take advantage of that situation.

Even under 21 loan players count in the 25 man squad if registered in the squad. So assume if we sign Titti on loan he would not be registered so not eligible to play for first team.

Yes, and then if he's good enough we can revisit it in Jan, as to whether we sign him permanently or register him and de-register someone else

I suppose the only other thing we haven’t considered is that we might sign someone permanently who is currently under the squad age cap and so we won’t need to let 5 go to bring another 2 in, it could be 4 out and 2 in. This only works if they’re signed permanently, any loans count towards the cap.

It’s a good theory but where on earth are we going to find a 19-20yr old we feel that’s ready to come straight into a championship squad within our transfer budget

Someone like Cozier-Duberry wouldn't need to be registered, for instance (however I think he's too pricey for what we're looking at)

Make this right. In an ideal world also Holsgrove in and JRC out would be good but each unlikely let alone both to happen.

For all the hype and manufactured nostalgia, their transfer business has been horrible in terms of getting value for money. Consistently overpaying on fees and wages, unable to extract value from sales, loads of unwanted players sitting on overinflated wages. For now they've got the revenue to support that, but its hard to see how they transition into a smart and efficient transfer operation.

Haven’t Rangers already had 7m+ bids refused? I can only see Brighton loaning him out, which would be useless for saving a squad place.

JRC has done alright in the minutes he’s been given this season

They’re a great example of a team who has got to where they are on money alone. There’s nothing else about them really, and as you say when you look closer at the transfer business, it’s abysmal. They’ll say the money hasn’t been wasted as it’s got them to the championship, but the success they’ve enjoyed won’t last.

If we’re planning on using JRC as a CAM the other position could be another holding mid, have 4 options already but Chalobah is going to breakdown at some point
