                          Kaminski
    McNamara Jones Koumetio Mesik
                     Coventry Chalobah
    Campbell         Carey          Grant
                           Godden

Mannion, Sichenje, Bell, Docherty, Ouma, Mwamba, Knibbs, Alli, Leaburn

Think it will be close to this but could see Bell starting over Mesik. If Apter or Mbick is fit then I’d have them on the bench instead of a midfielder

This would be my team too, maybe Knibbs over Carey but hard after the latter scored. Agree that NJ will go with Bell over Mesík

Surely the options will be dictated as much by how Derby line up and what the strategy is. NJ would consider those things wouldn't he?

This was their team on Saturday. Looking at this I’m a lot more confident tbh. Thought Derby would step on this year and push for play offs but their takeover seems to have fallen through and they don’t look that strong here.

Matt Clarke went off injured which is a huge bonus. I’d say he’s one of the best centre backs in the championship. Agyemang is out injured long term too so that’s 2 of the best players in the league missing

My concern would be CBT up against McNamara 1v1. If we had Ramsay fit I’d have no worries but hopefully McNamara is good enough 1v1 to keep him quiet. If not then maybe Sichenje will have to come on

Amazingly means no places in the squad at all for Burke, Costello, Mbick and Mwamba, and that's with Kelman, Ramsay and Edwards all out injured too.

Definitely room for outgoings based on that

I would start mesic over bell but we know NJ won’t do that. Bell has looked poor this preseason.  Has struggled positionally with attackers getting behind him in dangerous positions.  He is just more suited in a back 3

No despite the repeat requests, just thought Knibbs looked tidy in pre-season and would like to see him given a start

Fair enough about starting Knibbs, I just think it's a bit harsh to drop from the bench too.

Yeah I've edited that since, clearly had a brain fart when thinking about the bench!

    ————-Kaminski————-—-

    McNamara—Jones- Koumetio-Bell

I still think there’s a lot of questions over our squad but we’ll see I guess.

Grant and TC to swap wings every so often unless it’s working really well.

Can’t see Ouma being there so soon, same with Mbick after his injury.

It’ll be interesting to see if Apter makes the bench, if so he’ll be there ahead of Fullah.

I expect JRC to be there ahead of Mwamba or Fullah, unless a move is being worked on, but I’d rather they get more minutes if it makes sense to bring them on. They could be very good for us, JRC will likely never be more than a squad player.

I hope we don’t waste a spot by including Burke, Sichenje and Mesik, we don’t need all three there.

Is Jones worse in a back four compared to being the main man in a back three?

Yes, but he’s still our best centre back in either set up

I do think we will see a different team v Derby to West Ham the following week.

    Campbell
    Carey
    Grant
Godden (Leaburn to come on around 60 mins)

SUBS: Mannion, Sichenje, Bell, Doc, Mwamba, Apter, Alli, Knibbs, Leaburn

    West Ham (3412)

    Kaminski
    McNamara
    Sichenje
    Jones
    Koumetio
    Mesik
    Chalobah
    Coventry

Agree we might see this, but I think Docherty will start against West Ham. Those kind of games are where he is best when we will mostly be without the ball. He was one of our best players in most of the games against the top sides last season

Be very surprised if it is anything other than this.

Is it enough to beat Derby? I am not so sure, but I would take an opening day draw.

Unchanged from Cheltenham with the exception of Kaminski coming in for Mannion.

Think kaminski starts if fit and not moving on, and would like Mesik over Bell at left back, the rest the same, need to sort out who plays better on the right wing also . And Coventry needs to up his game or he will find himself getting benched pretty quickly.

I think is pretty solid for a second season in the champ -

Could we spend more - sure if we can get people off the books -

    I have a good feeling.

  • I would be much happier if Kelman was fit to rotate with Godden but apart from that I think the team looks good 👍
