Was down at the ground just now getting my Cardiff half and half scarf.

I’m in two minds whether to take this as a joke.
I would if I was you.

I thought you could avoid the penalty by giving your registration number to the shop.

Does the parking not come with a 10 minute ‘grace period’ anymore?

That was definitely the case when they first installed it
The so-called "grace period" of 10 minutes only applies at the end of your parking period if a payment to park has already been made.

There is however a 5-minute "consideration period" which is supposed to give you the time to read the notices, decide you don't want to enter a contract with them and leave.

It is an invoice not a PCN
PCN cannot be given by a private parking company ,  Penalty Charge Notices can only be given by local council officials.
These scumbag parking companies, many of whom used to run the wheel clamping rackets, are now doing dodgy charges to private car parks.
My advice is not to use them.
At some point our paid officials will catch up and regulate appropriately. Although it could take them 10 years or so.

Me too, I'd say thats at least 50% of the intent anyway. I'm not sure about the other 50%.

The paying via an app here there and everywhere, and needing a telephone, and on that have to have bank transfer details.
    Defeats me.
I didn't mind when you could put coins in a machine.
