RIP Alan Knight

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx2z5ze24g7o

With all the frantic transfer business yesterday, I missed the news that Pompey club legend Alan Knight has sadly died of Prostate Cancer aged just 66.

801 appearances, including the 5/12/92 return to The Valley.

A throwback to when players were part of the furniture. Gone too young

Wow what an incredible servant! 66 is far too young. RIP

I met him years ago when he was walking to the pompey ground with I think Alan mcloughlin. I joked as he passed asking him to have butter fingers today. Both he and Alan spoke to me for a couple of minutes before moving on. Think Alan mac died in his 50's a few years ago.

    Both nice guys. RIP.

Wow.  It truly is a horrible disease, shame that they are reverting back to testing those with symptoms.  RIP to a Pompey club legend.

  • That’s really sad. Growing up in Kent, at various times in midweek Meridian TV offered an extended local football highlights programme. Without fail it was always Portsmouth as the main game and Alan Knight was always in goal. RIP
