Introduction
Well after eight games are you ready for a break? - When the Full-Time whistle blows in South Wales on Saturday afternoon, it'll be the last Charlton game until mid-October, the beauty of playing at this level means we're not forced to sit and wait for International Call-Ups to see if games are called off, they thankfully just happen - Its been a week since our last game, the players will be rested... Lets finish this first mini-stage of the season, exactly the same way it began.
The Opposition
Name: Cardiff City (21st) - Manager: Brian Barry-Murphy
Ground: The Cardiff City Stadium
Previous League Result: Bolton 1-0 Cardiff
Before we enjoy that break we must first make the trip across the Severn Bridge and into South Wales, with newly promoted Cardiff City awaiting our arrival
Its the first time this season that we'll be facing one of the newly promoted sides, and given where we expect to end the game, its one of those matches where we ideally need to come away with points of some description, even if a positive result will have little bearing on the outcome of the season, especially at this early stage of the campaign. Cardiff head into this weekend looking for their first win, following an immediate return to the Championship. And after a first, solitary campaign in the third tier since 2003, remain undefeated at the Cardiff City stadium, with three of their four draws coming at home... Those coming against Wrexham, Derby, Sheffield United and Stoke City.
Of course Cardiff will now be looking to earn their first win, but will also be looking to recover from their first back to back defeats of the season; Brian Barry-Murphy their Manager comes with pedigree from the City Group, having previously spent time as Manager of Rochdale, whilst there could be a reunion for Krystian Bielik against his former (loan) side, he moved from West Brom in the summer for around £2.5m
In terms of head to head and the Addicks boast 30-wins, compared to the hosts 20-wins... Our last visit to the Cardiff City Stadium resulted in a 0-0 draw, with the Addicks ultimately relegated at the end of that particular season, one goal that day could have changed everything...
Charlton Team News
The Addicks seemingly head into this last game before the International Break, not just with a clean bill of health, but with players becoming more and more available; Charlie Kelman made his first appearance of the season against Portsmouth last Saturday, with the American appearing off the bench for the last 20-mins... Whilst there were beautiful scenes with Josh Edwards finally getting minutes against Sheffield Wednesday in the U21s last Sunday.
It might still be too soon for Edwards to appear in a match day squad for the First-Team, however seeing him appear on the bench might not be too outlandish ahead of a three week break... Otherwise you'd expect to see a largely unchanged team that could have achieved so much more against Portsmouth last time out.

Tough game. I expect they’ll be well up for it. We need a win. If we get beat, we’d have to ask a few questions as that would be no win in 5 and the 3 wins from 3 is becoming a distant memory
We’ve had a great start overall, but it would be amazing to sign off going into the intl break with a win. We can do it if we go there, frustrate them, but we need to show what we’ve got on the ball. Let’s nick it 1-00 -

All tough games. Cardiff will see this as a game they need to win. Hope we sneak a win but would happily take a draw. Would love Leaburn to get off the mark tomorrow. Deserves a goal.8

Cardiff have been better than their points total, so not an easy game. But I'm fairly confident we can at least draw, and continue my unbeaten run there (1 win, 1 draw).
It'll be interesting who plays left back and left centre back, as we have 3 players in Bell, Mesik and Bindon who can fill those 2 spots, plus Edwards likely to be on the bench. Bell at CB with Mesik at LB would be my choice.
The 10 will be interesting too. I'd rather keep Alli back as an impact sub, than start TC, Grant and Alli together, so would start Carey.0 -

Cardiff are playing like Barcelona despite their 4 pts and no win total. Will be a tough game and we need to frustrate them for the first 30 mins or so. Depends on the start but I think this might be tough, 3-1 to Cardiff.2

Loved Nathan Jones' comments about Leaburn in his presser. Basically teaching him all the gritty work of being a tough number 9, because he already has all the skills and attributes that you can't teach. If you were a young player I feel like you would have so much confidence in NJ to bring you on as an individual player, not something that can be said for all of our managers over the last few years.
Also thought Miles' answer was brilliant in his interview to what would you tell a first year scholar - treat every day like you're on trial and you've got something to prove.
He needs a goal or two but his development is so key to our performances at the moment11 -

Expect us to get dominated here. Despite their league position Cardiff excel at pretty much any attacking metric and have the highest average possession in the league
What they struggle to do is convert chances. We are good against possession teams usually, I think we can sit in and nick this 0-10
