In praise of...things that you think are going to be naff but turn out OK.

Albert Schloss in Piccadilly. We've been twice. Admittedly, we were comped both times but even so, the food, German beer and cocktails are very good, especially the cocktails.

Thank you. I got it done to match the team’s colours.  I might change to yellow to match their backbone.

I've eaten there, a fun place to spend an evening. My Schweinshaxe was a bit dry, when compared to the ones I've eaten in Germany, but not bad.

Managed to do the whole big 6 Oktoberfest beers in there over 2 days last month, everything just goes down lovely. Especially the Paulaner

I’ve never eaten Lasagna before because it looks like snot and two weeks ago my wife bought an M&S Lasagna  .
Oh my god ! I can’t believe how good it was. I’ve had three since !

Really like the Albert Schloss in Manchester; didn't feel that the London one had the same character so likely wouldn't go back

Years ago I wouldn't eat trifle as the thought of eating cold custard was offputting.

Then I had a go and regret missing out all those years.
