I thought it was closed for all but loans.
Therefore I can understand the Dixon loan but not the Hall signing. Maybe we're doing a 'Tevez'?

CHARLTON ATHLETIC are reported to be keen on signing young Tottenham Hotspur striker Terry Dixon on loan. The highly-rated Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has only recently recovered from a long-term injury, but is wanted by Alan Pardew, who is anxious to find a replacement for Marcus Bent, who has moved to Wigan Athletic on loan. Dixon, 17, has already been called into the senior Republic of Ireland squad and would benefit from regular Championship football.

For those of you that dont know, Dixon has been touted as the new Irish Rooney...

Strong bullish centre-forward who can play up top or in the whole behind. Clive Allen is on record as saying that Dixon was due to have some 1st XI involvement last year but he suffered a very serious knee dislocation during the last pre-season and has been out injured for nearly a year. He was included in the Senior Republic of Ireland squad by Steve Staunton prior to his injury.

Could be a good signing for you lot and would be good for us to see how good he actually is...

Okay, so this Terry O'Rooney lad might come from Spurs, but don't forget our own Chris Dickson out on loan at Crewe Alex.
He came on as a 63rd minute sub in Division One.
    From their website:

"Then with time running out Dickson nearly conjured up a moment of individual magic to win it for Alex. He dropped his shoulder, did a clever stepover to create some space for himself before forcing the Swindon keeper into a crucial save at the foot of his post. It would have been some goal........."

Looks like Dicker is creating a bit of an impression up there.

Not from what i have read on a few Crewe forums......

''Couldn't believe how bad Dickson was though. His touch was poor, his dribbling skills even worse and couldn't find a Crewe player with a pass if we had still been there now.''

''Dickson is only a month loan and that looks to be a little bit to long as he's clearly not good enough either.''

They used to say about Steve Bull that he had a poor first touch, but that didn't matter as he usually scored with his second touch. It may well be that Dickson will be something similar, a poor footballer, but a guy who knows how to score goals.

To be fair, even though Pard's has said himself that Dickers has got rough edges, he's shown up pretty well for us in the reserves and friendlies.

The boy has only been around 5 minutes. What were Crewe supporters expecting - the next Wayne Rooney?

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are holding on to Dixon and are not going to loan him out.
