edited October 2007 in General Charlton
am a bit worried about tonight, pedersen always seem's to score against us and i think our defence will strugle with the big lump windass........

Our erstwhile hero Bryan Hughes hasn't been playing recently. Anyone know why?

Jay Jay Okocha has been their dangerman

if we really do have aspirations of automatic promotion, this is the kind of "difficult" game we need to be not grinding out a draw in, but winning, especially after saturday's disappointment...

    Stoke away
    Hull away
    Cardiff away
    Bristol City away
    Plymouth away

all have this "hard" game tag, fact is we need to win our fair share of those come the end of the season and i will be disappointed with anything other than a win tonight - hopefully the lads will be encouraged by our 197 fans!

bougherra and powell have to go, i'd be tempted to line up like this at the back...

    ViewtoaKill - Fortune - Sodje - Mills

Powell did make a couple of glaring errors at Coventry, one he recovered well from and one that was punished.
But he has been as dependable as most this season and at least he is a specialist left back.

Half Powell's problem seems to be he rarely has midfield cover and thus often left exposed.

Mills has been going from strength to strength at right back and creating goal chances. I'd leave him right where he is.
Sodje in instead of Booghie might make the back 4 more solid.

Also, we may need to keep an eye a on Jay Jay Okocha - he almost singlehandedly destroyed Ipswich on Saturday.

I'd like to see Moo2 on the bench. If he came on, perhaps in the last 15 mins for a tiring Lloyd Sam, we could play him in front of Mills if we were under the cosh. We'd get defensive cover but lightening breaks - a bit like the role Konchesky often played for us.

Can anyone remember another game where Chris Powell has cost us a goal, cos I can't.

So Powell and Boughera didn't have the best of games on Saturday but they also helped us to 2 clean sheets against Norwich and Leicester and looked pretty solid. I do agree about the lack of protection that Powell is given by Reid though.

Chopping and changing the defence every couple of games isn't going to help us and if Pards thinks that the Fortune/Bougherra partnership is the best we have then he needs to give it time to develope.

I'd leave the back 4 as it is. The only possible change I would be tempted to make would be to bring in Ambrose for 1 of the strikers and go 4-5-1

When you play Ambrose it's like playing with 10 men. I suppose thats why he pops up in peoples 4-5-1 formations. I can't remember a game he's ever dominated, either on the wing or more central. What exactly is he supposed to bring?

Signing off. Makes his way to King's Cross in expectation of a glorious victory!

Ambrose can be frustrating cos he seems to drift out of games, but match highlights show he is actually involved in almost all of our best moves.

Fair enough Salad. I suppose the biggest frustration is that he's failed to nail down a position in the team. Time for Ambrose to prove the doubters wrong and show he really is the daddy.

Anybody who wants to change either Fortune or Bougherra for Sodje, obviously hasn't seen Sam play. He is cover at best. Like BDL I think leave the back four. The reason they look shaky is because we get sucked back into defending deep when we have a lead. Neither Windlass or Pederson have any pace, so we should be pushed up to the halfway line. The disappointment from the games at Scunthorpe, Stoke, S Wednesday Swindon and Coventry games is that none of them had pace but we let them play too much in our half of the pitch.
