I've always refused to put into them in the pub and advised my mates to do the same. You'd hope that some of that money makes its way to the charity but at least 15% will be siphoned off first as their commission. I give to a couple of charities by direct debit and I don't care how many sanctimonious chuggers or bucket rattlers look at me funny I'd far rather my cash went straight to a cause I believe in (with gift aid) than into their grubby hands.
there was a woman scamming people down in a pub on the river a few months back. a right dolly she was. Tavern asked to look at her ID and she swore at him and then moved down and collected a load off more fools.
[cite]Posted By: ns_eb_rj_s?[/cite]I think its a piss take they asked the footballers in the first place. You want to be a nurse for one reason only, and it isnt the money! Tough Shit Your Choice!
Just wonder, does anyone actually know any nurses that asked for it?
[cite]Posted By: suzisausage[/cite]thought so, i was with me mum! 3 hours shopping, bought nothing, had the hump. surprised you recognised me, i've only met you when you've been hammered :-)
that sounds like I drink alot !!............never forget a face..;o)
These particular "angels" are especially deserving of something - the sack!
I don't care how "busy" you may be - we're ALL busy - you do not tell someone to soil their bed and leave them laying in it, particularly if you are supposed to be a professional in the care sector. Disgraceful.

Following on from my post above, the following article was in the Sunday Times this week. This part in particular seems to sum it up.
"There is a wider concern that nurses have come to regard themselves as “mini-doctors”, quasi-specialists who are too grand to concern themselves with the basics of patient care.
“Preventing infection, along with feeding, cleaning and helping patients with bodily functions, should be right at the top of the list of things nurses should do,” said Hugh Pennington, emeritus professor of bacteriology at Aberdeen University, who is himself a former nurse.
“Somewhere or other, we have lost sight of what nurses are meant to do. For many of them the notion of getting s*** on their hands and washing it off again is something to be left to the lowest of the low, and if there is not a candidate to do such tasks, then they don’t get done.”
Politicians are reluctant to take on a profession that is popularly regarded as overworked and underpaid, despite the fact that they earn an average of £30,200 a year, with senior grades, including the “modern matrons”, on salaries of nearly £90,000. "
Another point to support our UK nurses in one particular hospital in Essex are asking the nurses to reduce their working week hours which incidently is not much, another form of hospital administration managers cutting costs and taking the blame away from this government. The sooner we get an additional health insurance for those who can pay the sooner the better. Bring back old style matrons get rid of cheap and nasty private cleaning firms. Once again over the years that the Tories and Labour, New Labour have been in power me thinks they have let the people of this country down.
