Sat Navs

edited November 2007 in Not Sports Related
To save Mr 1905 and Mrs 1905 from any future car journey bust ups I have decided to invest in a Sat Nav.

I know nothing about then. Can anyone recommend anything? Not too expensive, preferably European coverage.

Thanks

  • Tom Tom 710 (or it could be 720 I cant remember ) is probably your best bet. Cant go wrong really. Has European map as part of it!

Some West Ham fans i know used 1 of these tuesday and it sent them to Highfield road which is now a housing estate
  • Whatever you do, don't buy a "Medders 720" they always tell you to take the wrong turning - especially in Colchester

It would be a lot easier to drink vodka on every car journey, let her drive and not only would it be her fault if you got lost, you'd be so drunk you wouldn't give a fcuk!

One not to get is the Road Angel Navigator 7000 which I have, voice instructions say go one way but route on map says go another all very confusing, but I suppose it is a woman's voice tellling you one thing then pointing in a different direction. :-)

On the up side it is the best Speed camera Detector on the market bar none which is what I bought it for.
  • this is the only satnav I need

Salad - does it come with a training manual for Mrs 1905 ?
  • Key advice I find is

YOU NEED TO TURN THE PAGES TILL YOU GET TO THE RIGHT ONE, LOOKING AT A MAP OF MID WALES IS NOT PARTICULARLY USEFUL TODAY
  • I'm completely with you on this one, Salad - would much rather look at something and know where I'm going than rely on a machine to get it right...and we don't have that many roads in Scotland to worry about anyway!

Except that the map of France takes you down roads which haven't yet been built!!! Happened to me last summer.

Seriously though I've got the earlier Tom Tom 700 (with 3gb harddrive). It's bloody good and the later verions are even better. Have a look on Ebay, theres plenty being offered.
  • you need a sat nav when going away games via car, cartwrights directions are shit!
  • Tom Tom 910 is ok but if it goes wrong there returns policy is crap...no replacement and you can wait months so I am told.
Got the Garmin nuv 660 fm...... the fm jobby is like a hands free kit, it picks up spare radio channel and through blue tooth does your phone...plus if it goes wrong you get a temp replacement..Halfords at mo got a deal 299.00
