Steve Brown: MOM for Charlton?

edited August 2006 in General Charlton
Named Scott Carson the man of the match for Charlton (in both the games we've played), citing a couple of top draw saves.

Agreed?

  • Ambrose looked keen and Herman showed heart if little else. Apart from those two and Carson the rest were a waste of space. Couldn't blame Carson for any of the goals really
  • Carson pulled off two top draw saves.

Very sad indicator when you keeper concedes three goals and home, and is made man of the match.
  • When he was good, he was very good, but you can see he has a bit to learn about covering the near post and directing the defence. Gigg's free kick that hit the post was down to the wall not covering the near post, that's pretty basic and it's his job to line it up properly. Fletcher's goal passed him at the near post too, but that was down to Fortune screwing up a clearance and then good work by Fletcher and goal two, again poor defense by El Kak & Fortune who gave Saha the time to turn and the room to shoot, maybe his positioning could have been better. You can't blame him for goal three. Otherwise he looked ok, handled well, caught under pressure, punched the ball decisively and made three great saves if you include the stopped shot from Park in the first half, but he needs to improve his management of the defence.
