Canary Wharf is freezing, but no snow as yet.

Just had a call from home and it's snowing in Strood - Not heavy enough to settle at the mo!

I think it's snowing in Tonbridge, but my wife thinks that snow is only snow when it settles. She's calling it sleet. When does snow stop being snow and become sleet? Please don't ask that appalling Scottish BBC Breakfast TV woman to call me.
