ALAN Pardew has revealed Danny Mills is unlikely to be coming back to The Valley.

The full-back returned to Manchester City earlier this week after completing a four month loan deal.

His last appearance for the Addicks came on December 22 against Hull, a game which saw the former England defender sent off for showing dissent to the referee.

Pardew said: "I've made a decision that he probably will not be coming back here.

"The disciplinary record played a part in the decision. I felt he played well for us in his time here.

"He was important in and around the place and we are missing him a little bit in the dressing room, but I have to reflect on all of what went on.
"There were a couple of times when he went close to the wire before he got sent off and I can't afford that situation anymore."

Pardew added: "I've got Yassin Moutaouakil here and maybe it is time for him to come into the team.

"Yassin has only just come back from injury and hasn't really seen a lot of football in all the time Mills was here, which is a shame, because he hasn't really put pressure on Danny.

"He is now available and will play on Saturday.

"What he can bring to the team is thrust. Any team that has an emphasis to win at home needs thrust and we've lacked a bit of that.

"Both full-backs Mills and Powell, with all due respect, are quite staid in their defensive approach but are both very good defenders, whereas Yassin is a little bit more the other way.

"That would be an asset for us and might put the opposition on the back foot."

Kelly Youga is also expected to be given a start against West Brom in the FA Cup this weekend after he returned from a successful loan stint at Scunthorpe.

Youga was quoted as saying he would like to make a quick return to Glanford Park, but Pardew is challenging the left-back to impress on a bigger stage with the Addicks.

The manager said: "Initially we loaned him out to give him a window to show his wares and obviously to see how he has improved. He has improved a great deal.

"I'm sure if he went to Scunthorpe his next move if it was to be up would be to a club like Charlton, so what is the point of going to Scunthorpe if he can do it here?

"That's a decision I have to make and I will have a good look at him."

thought Pards was a bit unkind to Mills - "defensivelly staid" ????

thought Mills looked god going forward and often was found in space . Now I'm sure Pardew watches a different game to me.

Mills looked good going forward in a few of the matches I saw him in, however, a lot of the time he was caught out of position and I thought he got roasted too many times by ordinary wingers. I am looking forward to seeing Moutaouakil, I saw him twice at the start of the season and he looked mustard. I would much prefer to have two full backs under the age of 25 in this developing side, rather than 32 and 39.

Gutted about Mills think we should of gone for him OK i know the last game he was a pratt but therest of the season he was great which a few people seem to have forgot

i think it was a case in more of the games before he was almost a prat! If Moutakil hadnt got injured then i don't think we'd even be having this discussion. He's going to be a legend!

I tend to agree with leftbehind and although Mills was always close to the mark in games, i think we're missing that now, and we're a poorer side without his presence. People may not like Mills for varying reasons but his experience may have been a real help at the business end of the season. That said, i just hope Moutaouakil comes in and lives up to the excessive hype he's been saddled with!

I think most of the team were grateful that Mills was on their side rather than having to play against him.....(!)

No doubt, he's a nasty piece of work to play against and generally a strong character on the pitch - and, as Pards alluded to, in the dressing room. So from that point of view, he'll be missed.

But in the end he was his own worst enemy.
Shame, otherwise no doubt Pards would have moved heaven and earth to keep him.


Moo2 is exciting moving forward - he made our goal against Scunthorpe and it was his marauding run that resulted in our goal at Stoke.

But I'm unconvinced by his defensive play - unfortunately he's got a touch of the 'Magic' about him when he defends.
Look at the Leicester goal we conceded last week let alone some of his dodgy positional play.

I see him more as a Konchesky type midfielder than a defender.
Still, he's young and hopefully learning. He's certainly got the potential.

pards 'decision' was more than likely financial, should he keep mills on big wages or bring other players in for other positions where we are weaker. I'm sure we'd have all loved him to stay but the team comes first.

Don't forget Mills's disciplinary record, suspended fro 4 out of the last 5 matches, however good he was on the pitch, if he ain't on it it ain't worth having him.
