How do we know that he wasn't any good before he went to Scunthorpe? We never got the chance to see him. Same thing seems to be happening to Racon.

It shows poor management that Pardew did not keep tabs on Youga especially with our left back problems. He should have known that Youga was an improved player and called him back sooner or at least have known how he was progressing at Sunny Scunny.

He couldn't have called him back earlier than Jan, that was in the terms of the loan.

Parky has said in his OS blog that they always monitor players at their on-loan clubs.

Surely, then - they've had people watching Youga and must have had some idea of his progress?

Getting a report back and seeing the player in the flesh can be two very different things. Also, don't forget post match interviews are very much off the cuff statements, so should be given a certain degree of latitude.
