I went to both games and coming from Gravesend and supporting ebbsfleet as they are now called, i hated Maidstone so i was hoping Charlton would thrash them.
I got my replay ticket from maidstone as they made all people who wanted a ticket to go to their home match v harlow we did and a few maidstone fans gave us some aggro so the chairman at the time Jim Thompson or something like that invited us up to the directors box to watch the match.
There was a train strike also and no trains run that were scheduled after 10.pm.
We just got to Maidstone East to catch the last train to Strood to catch our train back to Gravesend before that deadline.
I also saw some Gravesend games there where Gravesend were winning and on 2 occassiions the lights went out a few minuites from the end.
Went to both games. Recall killer legging it across the pitch to chin flash flannel.Bizarre. At the replay we got pelted with bricks n strip lights for some weird reason. Don't remember proper aggro as there was a twelve foot wall between us. Memories....
I seem to recall Maidstone were one of the top non league sides back then. Didn't they win the APL ( then the nearest thing to the conference) but fail to get elected to the League Div 4 around that time? I remember the replay. Pitch was sloping and I was on the terrace at the bottom. Charlton everywhere but the main bit was under the covered terrace i think. How did they squeeze 10k in there? Only designed for about 5k. I went there for a league game oncebwith a couple of thousand in and it seemed pretty full!
strangely don't remember the fight in the first game. Could have blinked and missed it.
