I saw this article and the bit that interested me was Pards saying that a deal could be done for a youngster moving on. I hope it's someone like James Walker rather than the likes of Jonjo Shelvey who's a top top prospect and has been linked with a move in the past.

On the Championship they said Southend hope to complete a deal for Walker tomorrow, after his Yeovil loan ends

we recalled Walker late Friday so he couldn't play at Southend for Yeovil on Saturday. Signing for Southend for 200k on Monday, on their official site.

If Walker does sign for Southend, he'll play alongside ex-Charlton nearly man Charlie Mc Donald.

£200,000 seems v fair for a player we very nearly let go for nothing - Dowie got something right then, even if 200k doesn't quite patch up the huge void he left in our transfer kitty! Never felt Walker quite had enough from the few times I saw him but he worked hard and will hopefully do well for himself with Southend.

He scored for our first team though didn't he? I seem to recall a late equaliser against Newcastle

That's right..........that was the match that the thug Shearer was red carded for elbowing Jonny Fortune.
Then he whined & winge-ed at his appeal and got the card rescinded.

I seem to remember Charlie was a neat & tidy fox in the box type player but a bit small and lightweight.
But even so, he was never going to fit in with Curbs' channel running tactics.

On the contrary we offered him a new contract and he turned it down as he thought he'd get a better offer elsewhere. A couple of seasons in the Conference, before turning up in the league.
