Premier League chiefs are discussing plans for each club to play one game a season abroad when the international television contract comes up for grabs in 2010 (Mirror).
So 20 games played abroad. One in which you are a home team and one an away team. eg 2 footie away trips abroad somewhere.
Presumably home and away allocations will be in proportion say 10 to 1. Say 5000 home team fans and 500 away. And the balance locals or anybody else. Match is beamed back to the UK at a time that doesnt disrupt other UK football.
Matches staggered throughout season so the travelling doesnt clash with Champs League, FA Cup or Carling Cup and International matches. Are these in a range of countries or just one. Presumably they would be weekend games.
And which fixtures get chosen Derby v Bolton in Afghanistan. Chelsea v Man Utd in Rejkavic.
And of course once the format is established it will be reciprocated in the UK. Real Madrid v Valencia at Villa Park. And next week Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates.
What was it Brian Clough said about football and tv......
Indeed. Not his decision to make. He seems to be just passing comment. And it conveniently feeds in to more Khan bashing for those who can't help themselves.
He was asked a question on a podcast and he answered it. Do you think he should have refused to answer?
He could have said it's not within his remit and instead how he's going to tackle gun and knife crime for example. I admit my views are clouded by the fact I think he's a complete and utter bell end.

Yes he didn't say he wants it, just that it's likely to happen.
Which it is if you look at lots of other sports. Everyone should know by now the Premier League cares more about money than domestic fans.
Fucking meddling corporate soulless arseholes thieving the game from proper football fans and flogging it to armchair replica wearing plastics across the globe.
They've no right to do this with local community institutions whether it's Man United or Morecambe.
He was asked a question about NFL/MLB games being played in London, and does he expect it to happen in the Premier League, which he answered it's inevitable, but a load of work needed to be done on player welfare, supporters etc etc.
If you want to get your knickers in a twist because he answered a question in a wide-ranging interview, then you need to go out and get some fresh air and a life

C****s.
Not aimed at Khan. I'm talking about the people driving such nonsense.

Knowing our luck it will be a weekend in Wrexham or Airdrie.
Sorry Charlie, for those of us not in the know, can you explain please?
Although I think I know where you are coming from, I would like it confirmed.

I think you're geting ahead of yourself a bit with this mate. You'll be trying to sort out the referees accomodation next!
I guess we can buy a travel package for all 10 games flights and hotels included.
No need for local stadiums. Virtual football.
Call me old fashioned but I hate the idea.
The environmental impact alone of all that air travelling is terrible.

RIP Addickted.
Now if only we could apply that to many other things.
