I was at Elland Road that night. I have never experienced an atmosphere like it, before or since. It was just so incredibly hostile & the noise was so loud. An absolutely amazing experience!!
Yep - I went with three others. Monday night and very intimidating, but no trouble as Ormsby had put them into the replay with a rubbish goal. The team looked very nervous that night.
The St Andrews replay was far worse - lots of very unhappy yorkshiremen looking to kill as many cockerknees as possible after the game. That open piece of ground behind the corner we were in seemed enormous.We cme out of the ground like the charge of The Light Brigade. I even remember a couple of Leeds fans having a dig at us as we stopped at the first Southbound Services on the M1 on the way back.

I narrowly avoided three fights at St Andrews before the game and at least one on the way back - unlike most fans I had to get back to the train station. At the time I was convinced I was never going to make it and with hindsight I still can't believe I made it.
Was at Elland Road but couldn't get to St Andrews.
That was easily the most hostile environment I've ever been in at a football match. I remember there being various pens where the standing supportes were and the Leeds supporters just climbed over the fences to get into the next pen.
Went up on the train and then they bussed us in from the station, rocks being thrown at the bus etc.
Just remembered another one though.
Newcastle away, we won 3-0 and Leaburn got his first goal. The police took us form the train station to the ground in the back of their vam and reversed staright up to the turnstiles so the doors opened up and you walked straight in. They were scared ****less of them. Didn't give me a lot of faith ! They broke the crossbar etc. as well. LEABURN !!
Yes was there.Went up with a few chaps in a motor. I would say there was about 600-800 tops on the terrace with them either side of us,seem to remember it being a bank holiday monday. went off in the car park across the road from the ground after. A lot of my mates braved it by train and was not a very pleasent time for them. Mad thing is we played them the sat b4 and then on the friday night what a week,play offs then were mental and you would be skint by the end of it all!brilliant days!

Without doubt Elland Rd is the scariest ground I've ever been to. Then getting to the car park outside the ground with mobs of northern monkeys roaming around with their knuckles dragging on the floor. Finally got into the car and sitting in the traffic thinking everyone will know your Charlton just by the look of you. Then to make matters worse the geez driving our car hit the car in front. All in all a bit of a day out.
St Andrews was different altogether. Although we were vastly outnumbered I didn't feel intimidated at all. It did make me laugh how they went from doing the conga at 1-0 up to trying to pull the fence down at 2-1 down.
After we left and were heading to the station there were about 15-20 of us (Tavern was possibly there) and we bumped into about 10 of the infamous Zulu Warriors. They were actually looking for Leeds but decided to have a go at us. Somebody with us (I can't remember who) had a can of something and a few punches managed to get us past them.
Remember going to a league match at Elland road and the whole front page of the programme was a warning that anymore trouble and they faced a ground closure or something! We won 2-1 that day and the police escorting us back to the station warned us to be careful and stay away from the windows when we got on the train, they didn't even wait until the train had pulled away before attacking us! but luckly a quick thinking addick standing by the door grabbed a fire estinguisher and sprayed it at them stopping them getting onto the train. Also kicked off on the train as we were nearly back in London as we discovered the front two carriages were Leeds fans from London. loads of arrests as we pulled into London were made as the driver was pointing out the people invovled. (I was not one of them i might add)

ditto didn't fancy it on my own as a 16 year old who couldn't fight or run that quick... but found someone to go with to st andrews...
