He did that in a lot of his later concerts, 72/73 onwards, he dropped it from the set, then brought it back again when it suited him, in the original Vegas comeback years he didnt use it (1969, Vegas Hilton), its a song based on an old confederate tune, him being from the south an all.
• he sang it well.
•
[cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]he sang it well.
Thats the one constant through his life, despite his size and self inflicted health issues, his voice never failed, even upto 6 weeks before his death, if you youtube elvis the last concert you will see what I mean, he looks a mess but still sings fantastically.
• warmed to hes music as i have become older, great voice and could act a bit, quite liked those films he done.

Some good (early ones), some people say that Blue Hawaii was either the last of the good ones (photographically and scenery wise it was awesome) or it was the first of the cheesey ones, Change of Habit (his last acting role) is one of my favourites, not many songs and a seriour role (he played a doctor) Dont get me started on Elvis, I could talk all day about him.

Correct, Lieber & Stoller wrote a lot of his early stuff, did you know the only reason he recorded Blue Suede Shoes was to help Carl Perkins financially, they were both at Sun records originally and when Perkins had a car crash Elvis recorded it (it was Perkins release first) to ensure he received the royalties.
• Well all I know is Forrest Gump taught him to dance!
• really,i think he danced brillant,a lot of black dance comes from him.
•
[cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]really,i think he danced brillant,a lot of black dance comes from him.
His early influences were black blues singers and gospel choirs/churches with their over exaggerated movements/dance.
• which he made look good.
• If I Can Dream from the '68 Comeback Special is simply the best, most soulful and moving performance in the history of entertainment. That's a fact by the way.....
