I'd be looking along the lines of a Darren Moore type, a player that has taken teams up (like Liam Lawrence at Stoke too).

Linvoy isn't getting many games because he is badly injured. Knee ligaments i think.

Even if he comes back, he isn't likely to be the same player again, and with only a year on his contract (I think, or maybe this year is his last, I can't remember) he's likely to stay at Pompey, or to retire from football and concentrate on his charity work etc.

My mate is friends with Linvoy through his church down in Portsmouth.

We should be looking for an experienced centre half to provide a strong core, and on paper, Primus seems a good fit. But i think our hopes are largely based on his form of 2-3 years ago, and sadly from what you say, its unlikely he would repeat that consistently.

As for Hudson, would be interesting to hear the views of SoS or Budgie, as i know little about him.

Wasn't impressed when he played against us at the Valley. Don't remember him from the game at Selhurst.

He is/was captain so strange that he is willing to move. I wonder if they did go up would he change his mind/Palace offer him more dosh.

I was very intersted to see this, Mark is a very capable centre back, but is prone to the odd mistake, but then most defenders can be accused of this. He is another of those players who causes a lot of debate amongst Palace fans, some think he is Premiership class, others think he's mistakes are too common. In all he would be a good capture for you, certainly good enough for the Championship, and probably do a job in the Prem.

Personally I'll be disapointed to see him go, but am surprised to see him been linked to yourselves, as the reason he appears to be leaving us is money. I was led to believe West Brom were very interested, and I'd be shocked if you were willing to offer him the money he apparently wants.

Budgie has summed him up pretty well.
If we are in the championship again next season then he would be a reall asset. Our last season in the prem he did not get much of a look in. And even following relegation he struggled to establish himself as a regular, with Peter Taylor prefering Leon Cort and Darren Ward and often pushing Hudson out to right back( not a good position for him).

He's a decent stopper and gets the odd goal. Has only really established himself since warnock came in.

He does drop the odd clanger but has been very good recently. I'm a bit surprised he is looking to move and it must be a money issue as he has pretty much struggled all his career with Fulham and then Palace to hold down a first team spot, and now he has a 1st team spot he wants away.....

IMO would be a good signing for you.

if true I don't think we should be so dismissive of a centre half who has played every game in a defence that has leaked the least goals in the whole of the Championship only picking up two yellows on the way. Also if he is captain he has captained a side with very few experienced players into the play-off's and we need a leader. Quite why you'd leave a possible PL side for us I'm not quite sure, wages aside of course.

Maybe he's fallen out with Neil Warnock - and desperate to get away at any cost.
He wouldn't be the first.

Linvoy Primus has conceded he may have played his last Pompey game.

But the popular defender is targeting another two years in football before hanging up his boots.

Primus is winning his fight to save his career after being given the all-clear from Dr Richard Steadman.

Following a recent examination, the world-renowned knee surgeon is confident the 34-year-old will be able to continue playing top-flight football.

But it's looking increasingly unlikely it will be with Pompey.

Primus has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season, instead pencilling in July for a return following knee surgery.

Meanwhile, his current Blues contract expires a month earlier – in June – with talks yet to begin on a new one.

And Primus admits after 218 games and six goals, his Fratton Park days may be numbered.

He said: 'Dr Steadman gave me the all-clear, there are no more crutches or knee braces.

'I now have a four-five month plan to get my strength back in my leg, in my knee and then get running again.

'There'll be lots of conditioning work in June and then I'll be back in time for pre-season.

'Although, I don't know whose pre-season that will be.

'Realistically, I won't be back before July and if you look at it that way I could have played my last game for Pompey.

'It's not something I'm trying to contemplate. Who knows, the club might see the knee is fine during pre-season training and produce a contract?

'I'm just trying to concentrate on getting the knee right first, the contract does not mean anything if I am not able to play.

'To be honest, I am more concerned with the knee than the contract. It's literally knee first and then contract.

'There's not much been said to me on the contract front, we haven't gone down that road yet.

'In reality, my problem is small compared to where the club are.

'There will be a time to talk about it, first there are still a lot of unanswered questions for me personally.

'The club have been great, they paid for my flights to see Dr Steadman and could easily have turned round and said 'No'.'

Matters may appear bleak on the Blues front, yet Primus' football career is far from at an end.

The veteran defender continues to make excellent progress following his second operation on his left knee.

Now he's pinning his hopes on extending his footballing life by another two years.

He added: 'I would like to play a couple more years ideally, but time will tell.

'After seeing Dr Steadman last month he's pretty sure I will be able to play again at this level, the knee will be fine.

Thats the last time I try and come up with any inside scoops!!!

Linvoy would be excellent at this level. One can only hope that Pardew might have him on the radar. Though he may be thinking/planning to sign Sodje on a permanent deal, but who knows?

I always felt that Curbishley should have kept him. He(Linvoy) & Rufus would have made a very good partnership!

Good luck to Primus, but I don't think we should be signing another player on his way back froma severe injury. If he was fit and playing a few games then the risk might be taking. I'm sure there'll be a team out there somewhere will to take a punt on his making a recovery.

Where I feel sorry for him is that he'll miss playing in the FA Cup final.

I see that Ibrahim Sonko fell out with Coppell at Reading over his refusal to play in a reserve match. I think he would be a great signing and perhaps a p/ex with Jon Fortune's Premiership experience might be good for all parties. If Reading come down, so much the better.
