The gent is right. It could reflect the fact that the area has been a place imigrants have settled in over many many years. Therefore it should be called (after a minority in the area) ANGLO SAXON LAND.
You actually have a point there GH. Not often I agree with you on political matters, but the area has always been a starting point for immigrants, who then go on to bigger and better things. In 50 years the Bangladeshis will have moved on and another immigrant group will be incurring the wrath of little Englanders, and the name Banglatown will seem ridiculous.
In fact the same councillor who is wasting his time with this, will probably be campaigning to change it again, as he will be embarassed to be associated with a run down area full of them bloody martians...
