    Looking at the top 20,

only Torres, Van der Vaart, Kallstrom, Iniesta, Heitinga and maybe Trochowski and Mexes have really made it

Your man at 95 Kaka is probably top three in the world at the moment!

Interesting that some of the players who were already at big clubs (Man U/Liverpool etc) didn't quite make the grade yet a future World Footballer of the Year languished down in 95th place.

John Welsh is at Hull but didn't play at all last season - he did go out on loan to Chester early 2008 for a month.

Just read that Cherno Samba was nearly bought by Liverpool for 1.5million at 15 years of age but Millwall and Liverpool couldnt agree the fee and Liverpool didnt wanty to go to a tribunal.

Never really got a game in the first team for Millwall after that.

He went to Spain in the lower leagues done nothing, ended up at Plymouth scored on deput and ended up on loan at wrexham and is now a free agent.

Now there is a warning to all young superstars this guy was being touted as the next big striking sensation i remember watching him playing for England Schoolboys and under 20's and thinking this guy looks good really good.

Stay focused Jon Jo and dont get your head turned by bigger and better things get a lot of games under your belt before you think about a career change.Because those paths are not always paved with Gold

I think so, didn't he score a wonder goal at The Valley a couple of seasons ago?

he was quality i wasnt sure if that was the same person that was a cracking goal he scored against us

What was the qualifying age? Presumably these players were all under 21 or similar?

    Same person.

Was the precursor to Messi as the "next Maradona" as everyone in Argentina tends to do with their young, diminuitive flair players.

Never got anywhere near his hype at River Plate, bombed in Germany and Spain and now back in the homeland at a smaller club I believe.

I think the list is to say who the 100 top prospects were at the time, rather than ranking them. So Kaka being at 95 doesn't mean he was only thought to be a little bit better than David Prutton, & not as good as Mark Fotheringham at the time of the article.

Some bloody good foresight from the writers though, not a bad hit rate with their predictions!

No Cristiano Ronaldo in that list. He was only 16 at the time I suppose, but obviously well below the radar.

Former Charlton target Fotheringham a good 30 spots above Kaka and ahead of Robinho, Essien and Berbatov. Two Celtic flops in the top 100.
