A load of balls

Been watching a bit of tennis and there's one thing that really irratates me. Why, when serving do the men insist on being given three balls, looking at them, rolling them around in their hands and then throwing one away. What a waste of time, it's not like they're playing in the park with tennis balls that are years old. They get changed every six games for goodness sake!
