You would get a respectable backer on board to approach them or sell the concept to an existing financial services software company....banks tend to custom build their own systems or use specialised suppliers in order that 'people' aren't able to hack in etc... They also tend to only buy things from approved suppliers...the corporate websites will have a link as to how to become an approved supplier (well, ours does)... Or, if it's marketing related, you could have a look around and see which marketing agencies the banks use (if any)....
Our mutual friend in Sweden works in financial software systems, give him a shout...
There are companies and lawyers who specialise in innovations. You can speak to them in confidence and they will help with the patent etc.
If I can find a number I will let you have it.
I wouldn't suggest contacting potential clients direct until you have got it registered and have a proper pitch done. Assuming it is a new idea you need to consider cost of the product, cost to enter the market, who the buyers might be, competition, substitutes (I know my Porter) and finally price.
Good luck.
PS if it match boxes with strike on only one side that has been done.
[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]OK if you had a business idea about a website that could be used by banks etc how would you go about approaching them to sell them the idea?
Just for your guide it is virtually impossible to trade mark an idea of a website or even the code it is written. I have an in with lots of Banks and sometimes help finance new businesses. If the idea is that good then I may be able to help.

if its payment systems related thing the people you need to speak to are allot different than if its a marketing promotional thing
you can make them sign a non disclosure contract before meeting with them if you cant copyright it.
