Do you reckon that the players that would be willing to play for us, subject to finances are Sodje/Cranie only or could other loanees already be in the frame?0

Pards indicated just before last Saturday's match, that he wanted to bring in a body or two permanently, and a couple of loan signings 'with a view to permanent transfer' - plus a normal long term loan deal (some talk that he'd been in touch with his old sparring partner, Wenger).
He said how disappointed he was with the attitude of Lee Cook on loan last season, and that has coloured his view of loan signings. Hence looking for loan signings 'with a view to permanent transfer'.
Sodje is apparently desperate to play for us, so as he's in his last year at Reading, they'll probably be happy to sell him for a reasonably small fee. Whether the other signings will all be loanees, who knows.0 -

Anyone else spot Phil Parkinson sitting with Seve Maclaren in the Emirates directors box on Sunday?. Notsure who it would be though Justin or Gavin Hoyte? Traore? I'm guessing Justin Hoyte would beexpensive but he would fit the right back centre back mould......

AFKA mentioned a few days back that his agent friend/contact had mentioned that we were interested in player that many on here would be happy with. Sodje and Cranie were all too obvious to me. Song on the other hand and he would be a gem. Centre back or centre mid - would be very very handy in this division. Warm AFKA?0

I've heard it's more likely to be Gibbs or Randall both of who went out on loan at the end of last season, Gibbs is a winger and Randall is a centre mid. Not to sure that Song will be a goer, Wenger sees him as a centre-back now anyway.0

The Goonershits second 11 wil be looking at the likes of Hull-- Stoke-- WBA.
As said Song is way out of our league and is a squad player for their first team. If we do get anyone if will be borderline 2nd team possibly 3rd.0 -
But I'm still at a loss as to how the credit crunch directly affects the club, unless the club has borrowed funds from someone or somewhere and at the mercy of a bruised bank.
The reason why we are struggling with our finances is quite simple- we were relegated to the Championship with individuals in the team on vastly inflated wages (read Marcus Bent or Amdy Faye) that we could ill afford, and we anticipated either a return or exciting run that would culminate in a play-off place at least (always a guaranteed earner for T.V receipts, advertising, and of course gate receipts, win or lose). But we faltered on the pitch and we now have to sustain ourselves with yet another parachute payment, lower gate receipts, and a paltry income from T.V and sponsorship (well, compared with the £80m- per-season 'Golden Egg' of the Premiership).
The credit crunch can only impact the club indirectly- supporters abstaining from home games in greater numbers, for example, not through disloyalty but because they may no longer be able to go- and this isn't helped by the increases in the costs of admission. Even then, this may not be felt until after christmas which is when the real effects will be felt....0
