The Top Five songs of ...... Tamla Motown

Sorry I know that it is almost impossible but to make it even harder I'm saying one song per artist

5. It's a Shame - Detroit Spinners

4. I want you back - The Jackson 5

3. What's going on - Marvin Gaye

2. Ain't too proud to beg - The Temptations

1. Tracks of my Tears - Smokey Robinson

I will now close my eyes as I will want to pick at least 75% of the songs everyone else chooses.

How many of you know that Tracks of my Tears was actually the B side...I think I'm right in saying Going to A Go-Go was the A side and as such was never in the charts.Strange but true.
I've got it stored away at home in my spare garage somewhere.
  • Never heard that before, It was certainly from the album Going to a go go, but I always thought it was released as a single in it's own right and I'm sure I've got it somewhere in the loft, Fork in the road was the B side.
  • I heard that the secretary at Motown UK who was in charge of the Smokey fan club loved the track so much she persuaded Tamla to release it as a single but I may be mixing up with another Smokey song.

I always thought that story was attributed to 'Tears of a Clown', but you may be right. Hope whoever she was, she got a decent reward for it, which ever track it was.
