Crap songs you secretly think are absolutely awesome

Everyone's got 'em - songs that people cringe about cos they're crap, but you secretly can't listen to without a guilty look on your face...

Some of the ones in the office today were desperately poor (someone mentioned Glenn Medeiros FFS) but I thought my three weren't too bad - until I went and watched the videos on Youtube...

In reverse order of crapness/embarrassment factor:

3 - Jump (Van Halen) Yeeeahhhh - cheeeeeeeeese it!
2 - Against All Odds (Phil Collins) - OK, I've got a legit excuse for this one - it was the first song I ever danced to with the first girl I ever went out with. She went back to Canada and died in a motorbike accident... well you can probably guess why I can't listen to it without weeping openly :)
1 - Total Eclipse Of The Heart (Bonnie Tyler) - just listen to it - listen to it - and bathe yourself in its awesomeness :)

Man, Leroy, that's a sad story.

I'll have to think about this a bit.

Total Eclipse and Against All Odds are good ones tho.

No, don't get this "guilty pleasures" thing.

If I like it I like it, If I don't I don't. No secret about it.

My wife downloaded some Qu**n songs on to our sons iPod. All my good work with him ruined.

Still he's only 9 so has time to grow out of it.

Plenty of 80's monstrosities, Living In A Box, Howard Jones etc

Against All Odds is actually a great song.

Just to set the scene it's about 1974 and all of the girls are in love with Donny Osmond and David Cassidy. All the boys are into Slade. My favourite track around that time was 'Crazy Horses' by 'The Osmonds'. My Mum bought me the LP but I had to keep it well hidden when my mates came round to listen to records.

I agree with Henry Irving that this is a bit of a strange idea.

Aha and Howard Jones were actually two of the best 80's acts - nothing to be embarrassed about. Also, despite thinking Phil Collins is crap, 'Against All Odds' isn't too bad.

As for me I would go for 'Freed from Desire'.

Red, Red Robin ..... doncha just love it but try explaining it to non-Charlton mates.
    They just piss themselves.

Still it's better than Glad All Over, BFR.
    That's the Palace song, lol

Slightly different tack, apparently the members of REM all hate "Shiny Happy People" which I treally like. I always found their albums had 5-6 great tracks and then some really unlistenable stuff - the ones the critics all eulogise and the rest of us skip. Nothing wrong with Jake the Peg, I suppose nowadays he would be blasted for mocking tripeds.
