My comments on this article what for what they're worth.
"The supporters Director was highly publicised and indeed repeatedly lauded in the press as a model for good practice by a football club in its relations with its fans.
Futhermore, the position of Director implies ownership, i.e. Charlton were acknowledging that the fans were a major Stakeholder and in doing so giving them a voice at the most senior level of the runnings of the club via the elected position.
This is the key distinction for me over a fans forum, it simply is not the same in this regard - such a function can anyway easily be covered by regular attendance at fan meetings. "0
