by the time you've paid out for hire, if you're only ever gonna wear them once or twice, you might as well buy a cheap dinner suit. Matalan we're selling them last week (don't ask...)

cant remember to be honest thought is was about £50 to hire but you get all the gear. suit , bow tie, waist coat. You can even hire a kilt with all the gear if you wanted .Royal Stewart (not Rod) tartan. Had to escort an Indian lady to a posh do it was a National Costum Ball , she looked the b*llox in her sari a went as James Bond --- white tux etc . That was hired from Moss Bros.

buying the suit is about £100 and makes a decent investment.be sure to get a real bow-tie rather than a supermarket clip on.

its not a good investment if you're unlikely to wear it again !
  • bow tie aint a problem as we make them as a business i will probably print some up with the club bage on them agree with barts not a good investment to buy at the moment on e-bay there is one for £25

Go to 'Suits You' in Bluewater. You'll pick up a bargain. Got mine for £125 including a shirt and tie.
  • sorry,i was just thinking that if there was an autumn ball this year,i figured they would do another next year and maybe the year after not including other functions in between. i guess we aren't having the charlonlife black tie christmas do now then.
  • I was looking forward to that.

Got mine from ASDA for that amount. I use it maximum twice a year so well worth it.
  • Moss Bros tends to have some deals on buying everything too...I got the suit, shirt and tie for about £100 from there last year....wear it once, maybe twice a year at most, but managed to put it through on my expenses ;-)
  • I'd recommend Moss Bros, had a white tie do earlier this year and it was great, all brand new gear, still in the polythene

Personally I'd hire rather than buy (not that I'm an expert), otherwise you are commiting to being the same size for a period of time!

Do you reckon they'll have change of an elephant?
  • If you are going to use it more than once than buy one but i would recomend that you go to Moss Bros
  • moss bross is more expensive than buying
  • Man of your wealth and stature i would not have thought you would even look at the price tag,
