went to the one in blackheath years ago , reasonable atmosphere but thought the food was a bit ponsey and not enough of it....
i prefer bella vista round the corner , if it's still there!
Chapter Two - very dull atmosphere, average food and service that doesn't fit the price I used to really like Bella Vista but gone downhill a lot when I went about a year ago
Inside and Locale might be the best around, not that I've been to either for a couple of years!
I would describe The Chapter restaurants as nouvelle cuisine. If you like a posh restaurant where most people dress up, you get very little food ,but very well presented and the price is high, then it's the place for you.
If you're a pleb like me, I prefer more food at a cheaper price in an atmosphere where I feel more comfortable. Ooh aah summed it up quite well. They're poncy.
chapter two in blackheath has just been refurbed and re-opened...no idea if it any good mind...for my money the best 'posh' restaurant locally is Inside...also like The Guildford
The new Chapter 2 in the village is less nouvou cuisine now and more like the South American type retaurants that are becoming more popular - Gaucho Grill etc. It is specialising more on steaks these days.
I have not been since Chapter II has been refurbished but it was great food and atmosphere so much so we had our wedding reception downstairs and the food and staff were fantastic. Trevor Tobin still chef so cannot imagine the standards have changed much in the relaunch

Review of the OXO Tower
"For our recent first wedding anniversary, My husband announced his intention to take me up the OXO tower. I was very excited about this, but my enthusiasm waned a little when he explained that he had visited the Oxo Tower on many previous occasions with his ex wife. She apparently loved it, and was most dissapointed on their divorce that her new partner would not entertain the idea of a trip to the Oxo Tower. I was worried that our visit would not live up to his previous experiences of dining at the OXO tower. I had no need to fear. From the moment we arrived, we were handled very carefully and gently, and the staff made every effort to ensure a smooth entry was enjoyed by all. We told them what we expected, and when it arrived, the look on my husbands face told me that we would be coming again, and again, and again. About half way through, imagine our surprise when my husbands ex wife and her new partner turned up. After initial embarrassment, we all had a right old time, and announced that we would all have to try to enter at the same time on our next visit."

Another recommendation would be Locale, just up the road from the station. Have been twice and food was very good on both occasions.

I prefer Locale, excellent food, unrushed service, good little bar area ... and I'm going there again tonight!
Locale have great sea food dishes, especially the seabass
I'd second that! Great restaurant - always had great food from there. I'll go as far as to say its the best restaurant in SE London.
Miles better than what i've had from either the Chapter places.
They’re not the cheapest but their buffalo mozzarella, hams are superb. They do a mean tiramisu as well.
A great range of sauces and pastas too.
Stunning food, views, atmosphere etc and not overly expensive
