    Basques are quite an incredible race of people, very very fiercly independant ....this kind of thing doesn't altogether surprise me.

    Agreed. 'El Gallo' was great for the Spanish national side as well - extremely underrated player in my opinion.
  • I recall Tomassi doing this for Roma - he had an injury that was keeping him out and asked to be moved onto statutory minimum wage. Cristiano Lucarelli also turned down the chance to go to the top 4 side because he'd always wanted to play for his hometown side (Livorno) and took a huge hit in salary to do it.

    Compare this with Fat Frank, demanding a £150k a week/5 year contract (how many burgers and roasts can one man need)?
