The Mick Taylor All Stars (for sad old musos only)

Saw a overweight and 60 year old Mick Taylor last night in Chislehurst. Got a decent view about 5 years from the man and boy can he play blues and slide guitar. Still funky and a bit latin but blues at it's best.

Great version of Muddy Waters' You shook me, and long jam around Dylan's blind willie Mctell and All along the Watchtower and then encored with No Expectations. If you'd asked me which Stones song would he play that track would have been way, way down the list.

  • Was (and still is by the sounds of it) a great guitarist.

In a funny way, he was probably too good for the stones.

Ronnie Wood always seems to look the part more than Taylor but nearly all my favourite Stones stuff is from when Taylor was in the band. Not sure if that is why but more funky and soulful.
