Obviously I don't remember him, but I believe that Albert Lindon has the dubious honour of being the chunkiest Addick weighting in at 16 stone. He was a goalkeeper though.

If you want a goalkeeper, check this out a 2.05. Played for England and Chelsea I believe.
Interesting that this is in 1902, and it would be the kind of event in the minds of our founders when Charlton Athletic was formed in 1905.

I remember Steve Mckenzie as fairly lardy or was he just weighed down by his stupid 'tache?

Confusing that the goalies had the same kit as the rest of the team apart from long trousers.

I used to enjoy watching Big Fat Pete play, he had a hell of a shot on him.

John Barnes definitely wins the bloater award though (shortly followed by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and the straining seams of his shorts!)

Different eras and different players. Andy was and is a top class player. Pete was an average player at best and that was on a good day. Same class as Gorman and Emblem.

Never seen him play of course but one of the original 1905 lads was called William "Porky" Bonner.

Fantastic player to watch. His control and passing were sublime.

Holy Crap. When this thread was started my eldest daughter was a babe in arms. She's now got a career in finance and has brought a house!

It's taken twenty years to come up with that?

Going back to the original question posed 20 years ago. There can only be 1 outcome.....

There was a reason why he went by the name of "big fat Pete"

OOOH Fatty Garland, OOOH Fatty Garland

Cadillac footballer in a Fiat Multipla body
  • I would hazard a guess that Garland would eat the most hot dogs, however if we're talking playing ability it has to be Reid.
