What combo do you expect Pards to go with ?

Is that different to what you would do ?

    Will do: Varney/Toddy

Should do: Varney/Toddy/Dickson (with Varney pushed out a bit wider)
  • Will probably play Varney and Gray again!

I would go along with WSS and play Varney (wide) and Todorov just in behind Dickson

    Varney up front

Varney/Gray up front then mix it up and put toddy up front with gray and varney wide (after ambrose goes off)

Is Dickson fit? Hasn't even been on the bench for a while.

Think it will be Toddy and Varney

Would like to see Toddy and Varney with McLeod coming on late for Toddy to run them ragged..

If he isn't going to give Dickson a chance tonight when is he?

    So:

    Will do: Varney/Gray
    Should do: Varney/Dickson
  • I know it's not quite what you asked AFKA, but i think the front 6 should look like this with Bailey and Holland holding, Ambrose and Varney joining the front 2 whenever possible and Todorov sitting just behind Dickson. We're at home, we need to be bold.

    Bailey ---- Holland

    ----Varney
    Ambrose

    Todorov

    Dickson

Dickson has been fit all season as far as I'm aware and played in all the recent recerve games.
  • I'd probably have Bouazza in for Ambrose Chris but otherwise that's my team

Don't think Ambrose is a winger and he rarely looks good when he plays wide. Not sure if Varney is a wide player in a 4-4-2 either. He can work the wings from the front but we've never seen him covering the full back. That team would leave both full back exposed.

    My team:

    Weaver
    Mouts---Cranie---Primus---Youga
    Ambrose--Bailey--Holland--Basey
    Toddy
    Varney

subs in @ 60 minutes Wright, Izale and Dicko

    Pards' Team

    Weaver
    Mouts---Cranie---Primus---Youga
    Ambrose--Bailey--Holland--Bouazza
    Gray
    Varney
  • I agree Henry, but I'm not looking at them playing really wide, my idea was more of a 4-2-2-2 formation with Varney and Ambrose getting into the box so at times on the attack we had 4 forwards. Moo2 and Youga can be the wingers when we attack anyway.

Sounds exciting but maybe a bit too attacking. Four forwards and the full backs bombing forward as well!

Maybe if Basey was holding in front of the back four but that would mean only one up top and I'm not sure that Varney, Gray or Toddy can do that effectively. Need Darren Bent back or for Izele to live up to his youtube video
  • It will be Gray and Varney.

I would play Varney with anyone else other than Gray, maybe get Killer out of the Oak and give him a run out.
  • gray and varney for pards
and i'm gonna go for gray and varney and predict at least 2 goals to come from the pair toddy maybe thrown on to help em out...
dickson and izzy will have to wait till we get relegated

Yeah maybe it is bold but i think we need to do something to get pressure away from our makeshift back 4. But with 2 centre backs and Bailey and Holland holding it's unlikely we'd get caught out too often. Moo2 and Youga are quick getting back and Varney always works his socks off.
I guess i'm just fed up of dull, boring games, we need to do something exciting and attacking for once.

  • Sadly, it will be Gray and Varney.

I would play Dickson and Todorov as I don't think the other two's level of performance so far this season justifies their continued selection

it will be Gray/Varney I am sure. There will be enough enforced changes tonight as it is, swapping some additional players out is just asking for trouble in my view.

Is Hudson from last Saturday's starting line up not the only enforced change?

It is but if you move Cranie over that is two different positions.

Let's face it Pardew has never had a problem with changing things around so doubt he will start tonight.

More important is that whichever XI it is give it a proper go.

I don't think Dickson is the new Ian Wright like some, but I'd like to see him get a chance simply because he'll try and create chances for himself, and goes out looking to score. He's not like our other strikers who will be trying to do a lot of other work, not saying thats a bad thing, but we aren't very creative so maybe need someone like Dickson who just wants to score goals.
  • All we know about Dickson is that whatever level he's played at he's scored goals. Non-league, reserve, league one. Obviously the management see him week in week out, but he scores in nearly every reserve game so i don't see why he doesn't get a chance.

This would be my choice, would love to see us line up like this.

    It'll never happen though.

Other option would be to field a 100% different side

All reserve players and have Kins bossing em ;oP

Would put Varney out right. He has missed chance after chance this year and it's not good enough.

The only change Pardew might make is Toddy in for Gray though.

On a side note. Looked on Wiki and Varney is 26. Thought he was younger than that.

I don't mind who we play up front just get them some bloody decent service for a change, that means getting behind their back four not crossing from the bloody half way line.
