Only just heard that he died on 17th October, aged 72, after a long illness.

A true great and a fantastic voice.

    I actually saw The Four Tops live...but to my shame I honestly can't remember if Levi was still in the line up.

    The lineup remained unchanged for more than 40 years and sang with them until the late 1990s.

    According to The Times' he turned down a potentially career changing offer from Berry Gordy to star oppsite Diana Ross in 'Lady Sings the Blues'. He insisted it wouldn’t be fair on the rest of the group and remained in Detroit with the Four Tops.

    Don't make 'em like that any more. Top man. RIP
