Just wondering if there had ever been a study of relative success rates comparing the records of:
Managers who had previously played for the club
Managers who had no playing connection with the club
My guess is that it might vary by division ie in the top divisions the most successful clubs aren't very often managed by an ex player (at least nowadays), whereas in lower divisions it is maybe more likely to happen. Whether or not it brings success, I'm not sure!
Anyone know if anything like this has been looked at?
(PS I'm not volunteering!!)
