Completely off topic and nothign to do with football

edited December 2008 in Not Sports Related
Anyone know which criminal is up at the old bailey today or perhaps on their way to belmarsh? A prison van came down charlton church lane this morning... had a police helicopter hovering above and 2 police cars in front and 2 at back? biggest i've seen.

tho coming down charltonchurch lane? i normally bump into the prison vans coming down cornhill on way to the old bailey but not seen this route before.

Was it a charlton player up for crimes against football??

    oi thats my job...

    ;)
  • There were two TV vans outside Belmarsh this morning so it's probably something high profile.
  • They all went back through Greeenwich at 4.30pm, chopper as well.
  • It's been the same for a couple of weeks B, changing the route everyday as well
  • I come over shooters hill and down past the artillery around 8.50-9am every day and in the last three weeks I think I've seen more prison-to-court convoys with helicopter escort than in the last five years - it's been mental
  • who is it then?

is it the robbery case that collapsed yesterday?

    or a terrorist?
  • well actually if the case collapsed yesterday that wouldnt have been this morning.
  • Probably terrorist.

Why they can't use the crown court at Belmarsh is beyond me
  • yes i have seen this over the last couple of weeks as well

Two CAFC herberts in a bust up over a flask.

with our OB it was probably two old grannies who hadnt paid their Poll Tax but might have had a hidden weapon of mass destruction. The Met never ever been known to over react.

  • i was in the Old Bailey the other week when that baby P mob were in there i aint seen security like it. how much must that all cost us surely it would make sense to do it nce on the way to belmarsh and trial and sentence from there

Don't remember seeing this anywhere else. Which tabloid and when?
  • copter overhead now in the city... taking "it" back?
  • It goes past my office everyday, someone I work with said it was the bloke involved in the Baby P trial, whether thats true or not I couldn't tell you.

Or all the humourless dickheads who cheered a spot of playground bullying?

About as funny as herpes that was. The stick from the upper echelons of J block was fair enough. He saw the funny side I think, but to be honest I was embarrased at that and I think the guy who did it had the sense to be.

That coming from the part of the ground which is meant to generate some noise too.

    Embarrassing, simple as

Must be lags who have tried escaping before, only get those coloured suits in those circumstances.
  • Curb-It get Tav to knock on the van window and ask.
  • Transported ? didnt we stop that some time ago ? about the last time we won i think it was.

Really? I was chatting to one of the driver/navigators and was told it was all Cat A prisoners who get that and the full cuffs. Maybe that is only Belmarsh.

Didn't realise either that they are building a new prison next to the existing one in Plumstead.

Possibly down to it being Belmarsh, but it always the jester suit for escapees normally, as most lags (apart from remand or D cat open nicks) wear prison issue tracksuit bottoms and top, or jeans and blue shirt for visits, they could easily blend in wearing them if they went over the wall, not so with the jester suit, for obvious reasons.
  • From my limited experience different prisons seem to have different "uniforms". Blue or green trousers when on work parties etc or trackies.

Anyone see the bit on survivors about the prison tattoo (a set of scales with the number of years sentenced on it) TV myth or reality?
