Just out of interest, why does it shut after games?

Im fed up of The Oak now and usually head up that side now before and after games. I tried to get in the Antigallican after the game yesterday but was told Charlton supporters were not allowed in by the 7ft Eastern European on the door even though there could not of been more than 4 other people in there! So ended up in the lovely Pickwick.

I think it's because it's a mixed home/away pub before the match, so they're shut afterwards just in case of people heading back there & any potential trouble.
  • do they still have the round pool table in the Rose?

RoD is normally open after the game, but the front door is shut and the curtains drawn... just go round the back and show your season ticket at the back door.

Started happening after the place got smashed up a few years ago.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. Never thought of that, they did a good job of making the place look shut!

There is no pool table in there now from what I recall.

The Pickwick is a strange place.

  • decided to go to the rose after the game for a change last night, as mentioned earlier front door locked so went round back, banged on the door and rang the bell for a couple of minutes to no avail, so also ended up in the pickwick.

To be fair, there are some dreadful pubs in Charlton. In fact, can't think of one you'd choose to go in if we weren't at home.

If it were up norf the term "khazi" would be apt. Shame really.
